When must I use supplements? - Sunday, January 11, 2004 12:16 AM
I'm going to starts bodybuilding/nutritioning tommorow.

Question 1:

Some people told me I should start using supplements
right away and others told me to use it a week later,
then again others told me two weeks. I was told by
the "late takers" that my body already has the sup-
plements needed?

Question 2:

If I do start using supplements, then in what time
periods should I use it? eg. Use it for 2 months and
then for 2 months not, or, Use it for 3 months and
then for 1 month not?

Thx in advance.

Start your routine! if you have a good diet, then you should get what you need from that for nutrition. Go 1-2 weeks and listen to your body, I think you should workout without supplements until you plateau even with increased weight, then check out supplements to Assist in making more gains.

You need to figure out what it needs first before you start throwing things in there, otherwise you won't know what works and what doesn't!

I hope that helps. Good Luck!

Changing it up however, concerning supplements, I don't have an answer for you here right now now. But search through the other forum and threads, I'll bet you find something your looking for to help answer your questions!

First question should be..

What do you eat
How often do you eat

Tell us your diet first and that will determine if you are ready for supplements or if your diet needs some major overhaul.

Supplements are "a supplement to a good diet." They are not your diet. They are not there to be the foundation of your diet.

If you are getting plenty of lean protein from foods and you just need those extra protein grams.. a shake is a supplement. If you are getting barely any protein or protein form low quality sources, then supplements really won't do much for you as you need to adjust the diet.

So it's a matter of what do you eat now, how often will you train before you should go out and stock your cabinet with supplements.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a supplement kinda guy. But I really made my best gains when I figured out that my eating was sub-optimal and I worked that out. I made more gains in 2 months (bulking) then I ever did taking any supplements since 16 (I'm 31 now).

Just start taking the supps when you feel you are not getting enough out of your meals.
