When to do cardio? - Monday, November 10, 2003 10:59 AM ( #1 )
Just wondering when you think cardio should be done?

Are you an AM cardio person before any meals?

Are you an AM cardio person after breakfast?

Maybe you do it in the PM? Or at night?

Thoughs and suggestions welcome. Open for debate.

I do it first thing in the morning, before any meals -- but that's mostly because it's most convenient for me to do it. If I can't do it in the morning, I'll just do it later in the day, about 2 hours after a meal.

hey mda, whats up? not to much here... im actually taking Nov. off because i injured my back. But once Dec. comes around, im going to be training harder than ever before

Advantages I see in cardio in the morning are:

1. Kick starts your metabolism for the rest of the day.
2. You feel energized and ready to take on the day.
3. It gets it out of the way early, so you have the rest of the day to do your weights.

Advantages for cardio in the afternoon:

1. Burns off some of that large lunch
2. Kick starts your metabolism later in the day, and then you will be burning fat at a slightly higher rate while you are sleeping
3. You can go do some running in the daylight, so all the chicks can see your hot bod.

lol... there are 3 starters for each, lets see if anyone can add more to that.

I always thought running in the morning best since your stomach is empty so you are more or less working on your stored fat. Where if you run at the end of the day you are working on every thing you have eaten for the day.

Ya, but it depends on what your goals are. If you are over wieght, or just want to lose weight, morning cardio may be better, as apposed to someone who is already at their desired weight, it really doesnt matter.

The reason I asked was I was curious as well. Then I came across this article by Tom. Really well written and brings up a lot of good debate materials. Some of which Buckethead already mentioned. I think it's really worth the 10 minutes it might take to read.
