Wheat & Flax Pizza - Saturday, February 07, 2009 6:56 PM ( #1 )
This will feel like your cheat day meal but it's not.

Try this the next time you're craving what I crave the most.

Pizza

The problem w/most commerically prepared pizzas aren't the ingredients.  Most comericals,
thrive with saying junk like FRESH ingredients.  Well who really cares if the mushrooms are 2-7 days old?
Within reason, these things don't matter.

What does matter is that crust.
Most comercially prepared pizzas, grocery store, delivery or gourmet is the SATURATED AND TRANS FAT

Carbos do not scare me.  We need them as bodybuilders and fitness folk for energy.
Eating the carbs in this pizza recipe is healthy, not a scary thing.

It's the TRANS and SAT fats that do scare me and I've searched every pizza crust high and low for little to none
and was disatissfied with every single one.

So, I decided to make my own and I'm assured not only of it's cleanliness but that I am not
putting negative calories into my system.

Of course I don't eat it everyday but for a once in a couple weeks treat; you can't beat it w/two sticks tied together!

Wheat Crust Pizza Recipe

1 Cup All Purpose "UNBLEACHED" Flour
1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
1 pkg of fast rising yeast, or any yeast.
1/2 tsp Salt
8 oz warm SKIM Milk - this activates the yeast great
2 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Flax seeds to your liking

Combine all dry ingredients, EXCEPT whole wheat flour, into a large bowl.
Next add liquid ingredients and GRADUALLY add whole wheat flour.
Mix until it becomes stiff and hard to stir,  I personally put in my kitchen aide mixer w/the
bread knead hook on it.

Now cover it with a towel and set aside, 1/2 hour or so or longer for the dough to rise.

Flour your surface.  Begin to the knead the dough out on that surface by hand, 6-8 times, add
flour if it's sticking. Roll it then into the shape you want.

Pre heat oven 400 degrees.   And build your pizza.

I used tomatoes, mushrooms, very little marinara sauce and mozzerella chese  in the picture you see.
I also lined the crust of it w/crushed garlic and even more flax seeds.

Now depending on thickness, I did thin crust, the bake is about 20-25 minutes.

Pull it out and enjoy !!!
