What's your favorite vegetable? - Monday, June 15, 2009 11:39 PM ( #1 )
I'm going to add one type of vegetable in my diet... just something I'll enjoy eating, I'm most likely to stick to something I'll enjoy eating instead of something I won't.

Broccoli seems alright.. carrots are fine but they seem to increase my appetite, then lettuce LOL... spinach?

What is your favorite?

Cauliflower.  You can cook it and mash it up just like a potoato, but it is much more nutrient dense and has way less carbohydrate.

#1 Potato, stuff it with bacon, cheese, sour cream, butter, more bacon, did I mention cheese and more bacon? Not sure if its good to eat or not but I don't turn it down much anymore.

#2 Celery, its pretty much the only vegetable that I can eat without having a gag-reflex-puke. Prepare to have your boots dirtied if I attempt to eat a tomato of any kind. Yes, I'm aware that a tomato is a fruit, but it is commonly classified as a vegetable.

#3 Broccoli, it lowers estrogen levels and I can generally eat it without gagging. I take my broccoli RAW, often daily, its too much effort to cook it and it tastes the same.

Followed by beans, cucumbers, haven't tried much of either.

#1 sounds good, but I'm cutting - hence vegetables.

#2 sounds disgusting

#3 I like that.

Hey, THW!  Had to get that little pity party out of my system, but I'm much better now, thank you   Something Jillian Michaels said on her radio show opened my eyes to what a bonehead I was being.  Concerning slip-ups and backsliding, she said, "When you're driving down the road and you blow a tire, it makes no sense to slash the remaining three out of frustration.  You replace the flat tire and move on."  Pretty simplistic analogy, but that's basically what I was doing.

As for the O.P., I'm going to toss my lot in with broccoli.  Don't know why, but lately, I can't get enough of the stuff.  I heard somewhere that an entire head of broccoli only contains 60 calories and more fiber than most average people eat in a week.  You can quite literally binge on the stuff with zero consequences (other than the fireworks show later; but hey, everyone loves their own brand).  That bit about lowering estrogen is nice, too.

I like this response.  I've never done that before, but I will as soon as the local supermarket starts carrying cauliflower again.
