What's the best alternative to the Bowflex?

I was thinking about buying a bowflex but it seems the price is a little steep for my wallet. Are there any machines that are similar but more affordable?

How much is the bowflex you're thinking of buying?

I believe Weider had something similar to the Bowflex but I can't really remember the name.

I was thinking about going for the Bowflex Ultimate but even used it's a bit costly for the average person. My budget on this is about $500.

Spend those 5C's on a gym membership and use the rest for some snazzy workout clothes. I agree. With 500$, you won't be able to get a decent home gym started.

Whatever man, look on craigslist or the Iwanna and find a cheap used bench and weights. Free weights are a lot better than any machine. I just found a used Olympic bench/squat rack and 300lb set of Olympic weights for $125, and it had a barbell and ez curl bar. Search around and try to find a deal on some free weights. You'll get a lot more out of them.

Just like the others said: 1 power rack 1 bench 1 45 lb. bar some plates that add up to about 500 lbs. total That's all you need. You can probably get all that for $500. Bowflex = exactly what soccerking said.

Gonna have to agree with deadly on this one. There's alot more to a gym than a power rack, reasons that would make me buy the gym membership first (if I wasn't already paying tuition to use my school gym that is).

I have a crossflex, which is the same thing as a bowflex, except about 250$ total. Got it 3 years ago. I lost 60 pounds (not all fat) using it, but I only ate 3 small meals a day, and did curls as fast as I could, and pushups as fast as I could. And some cardio rowing thing too.
