you lift weights and run (total of 1 hour) 3x a week and have a calorie intake of about 2000kcal(BMR) or less?

ok, so my question was too simple. What I mean is are you actually doing more damage than good for your muscles by working out on that type of diet? I'll assume rus thought I meant a weekly caloric intake of 2,000 kcal. To clarify, I meant a daily caloric intake of 2,000 kcal.

why would i assume you were talking about WEEKLY calorie intake?!?! I take in 3500 calories a day. Of course you doing damage to your muscles.. 2000 calories a day - ~1000 calories from cardio = thats only 1000 calories left. Unless you are 100 lbs I stand by my answer, there is no benefit to the muscles. In fact you will lose what you have.

if you didnt end up dieing, you would however lose a large amount of quality mass and become fairly skinny if you were to continue on that diet untill that amount of calories became your daily maintenance level.

The reason I asked is because the Daily Values part of the nutritional information posted on all food in the USA is "Based on a 2,000 calorie diet"
