What do you think of MyoPlex?
-
Monday, February 23, 2004 10:26 AM
I went to pick up my normal protein (EAS Simply Protein, now called MyoPro or something like that), and the store i went to was out -- a 20serving size myoplex was the same price, so i figured id try that as well -- It has 42g protein per serving as well as a bunch of other stuff that i have no idea what it does, and its much thicker than my previous stuff, but its not bad -- definitely a few bucks more though -- anyone have any personal comments on the stuff -- good bad junk excellent stuff?? The style i got was just Myoplex original -chris

I like Myoplex. Quality MRP, and good taste, but I prefer the macronutrient profile of the Low Carb version; however, if you are bulking this is a good choice.

I did a look on SupplementWatch a while back. That is how I found the EAS product. I wasn't an EAS fan before because I figured if they sold in Target, come on. But honestly, I've tried tons of MRP products. And this one tasted great, mixed very well, was not overpriced and had a great nutrient profile. I was in a bulk mode so it was welcomed. My experience with it. A+. I'd buy them again. However, the Strawberry flavor.. mixes the same as chocolate but man.. yuck! The Chocolate flavor is tops.

Mostly, I use a custom blended whey concentrate post-workout, and a custom blended casien before bed. I used ICE and Vendetta by Xtreme during or before workouts (BCAAs and EAAs, respectively), and I use the occasional Low Carb MRP when the mood strikes.

Tastes like carbonated cake batter... Other than that, it's fine :-)

Personally I didn't really like MyoPlex all that much. I could never get it to mix very well (maybe I should have used a blender or something) and the package was hard as hell to open. Other than that the taste was alright. Currently I just eat a Worldwide Protien bar between breakfast & lunch and a GNC Pro Performance protien shake (double dose) between lunch and dinner. The chocolate GNC protien powder tastes great--- but it's pretty high in cholesterol (that double dose puts me up to about 70% of the RDA). I'm actually going to shop around a little and try to find some better stuff. If anyone has any suggestions let me know!

Low fat yogurt is a better lean protein (dairy) then a carb source. Granted, there are carbs, but they are simple sugar types from the sugars in milk. But the protein contained is good. I wouldn't use yogurt as a carb but rather a lean protein option.

hmmmm.... ok. well what would you suggest as a good carbo source to go with my small meals? i dont always have the time or resources to whip up a big salad or anything. i do drink tons of 100% juice though. apple, grapefruit, grape etc. id say 20+ oz/per serving.

I prefer Metrx over Myoplex because Myoplex has Aspartame....Metrx doesn't....and they taste similar

I've never taken myoplex myself. But for bulking up I use EAS Mass Factor supplement in conjunction with the simply protein. The mass factor has the following amounts per serving.... 52g protein 97g carbohydrate 5g creatine monohydrate 1g L-glutamine 1g L-arginine Thoughout the day I take the simply protein. Then after lifting I take the mass factor. However supplements are only a part of getting results... 1/3 What you do in the gym 1/3 How much you sleep 1/3 What you eat (including supplements) Neither one of these factors is more or less important to succesful training than the next. **EVEN THE TALLEST OAK WAS ONCE A TINY NUT**

Neither one of these factors is more or less important to succesful training than the next. I wholeheartedly agree. I was training hard, supplementing and for years could figure out why my gains were not coming along. It wasn't until I got a bulk plan and started eating right that the 1/3 kicked in.. and what a difference.
