Chicken breast on whole wheat bread or whole wheat wrap, almonds, banana, and a cheese stick.

That was my lunch for many years.

Protein: 39-41 grams
Carbs: 25-35 grams (the wraps were low-carb)
Fat: 25 grams
Sugar: 19 grams, all from the banana which is 100% natural not considering the genetic engineering applied to all of our fruits and vegetables.

Current Supplements: Multi, Whey, Caffeine, BCAA, Vitamin C, Calcium
Current Cycle: Strength

in high school i had a microwave available to me during lunch so i would bring whole wheat pasta and chicken breast in tupperware and just heat that up.

Pearl gave you a good option, but it'd seem to look like a bulking meal.

I used to bring my whey protein, leave it in the parking lot with creatine, buy a bottle of milk and go and put a scoop of whey and a tablespoon of creatine in the jug and shake it up for post-workout.

My lunch, calorically equated to: 550-650

That's not a real bulking meal. A real one would be more around 800-900 for someone who is on a timed schedule, like a high school student.

If it's anything like my high school, he's got the option of eating the poor quality cafeteria food or something from home. If he's got the time, and he wants to eat food and not solely powders as his source of food, then he should make his own lunch similar to what I posted.

Hey, I used to be all about just whey shakes, chicken, and brown rice. I did it for 6 months and hated it, and now I understand that solid foods are better than simply powders. They may say that all the vitamins and nutrients are inside, but ask yourself: Are you really human if all you eat is powder.

I never really calculated the calories up, 550-650 isn't really that much, I still wouldn't go over 2,000 calories depended upon size during a cut, so three of those meals would put you around 1800 calories or so.

I'm not saying replace whole foods with whey, I agree whole foods are better. But for a lot of people whey protein shakes do good, when you cannot find time to cook so much or eating is something you don't like to do in general - post-workout and upon wakening shakes is ideal, but again - I agree with you....most of your foods should come from whole foods.

Yeah, see if he could have access to refrigeration and he wanted a whey shake, and the contents were flexible, then I'd say get creative:

Throw in oats, fruits, eggs, milk

The options aren't limitless, but there are an abundance of protein enriched foods he could compile together along with the shake. In that sense, he'd be good to go.

Case and Point: Get the "in" with the hallway person that guards the teachers lounge.
