What is a legitimate rapid muscle growth supplement for a 16 year old? - Sunday, July 12, 2009 9:00 PM ( #1 )
I just wanted to know from an experienced weight lifter, what is a good rapid muscle growth supplement for a 16 year old with the right amount of stuff in it. I've heard about a lot of false supplements out there with an excess amount of stuff i dont need. I am 5'6 and weight about 150. I workout all the time during the school year, and also wrestle. Now that i am in summer, i dont have a weight room to go to everyday. Please post on this forum for any suggestions.

There are no rapid muscle growth supplements.  Just eat a lot of good solid food and you will be packing on pounds in no time.  Make sure it is somewhat clean though (no junk food) to keep the fat gain to a minimum

Food!

Not such thing as a rapid muscle growth supp. And if something claims to be its BS.

Have to agree with all above, the only rapid muscle growth supplement that is exists is:

(hard work) 1 serving 3-4 times a week + (lots of good food) 6 servings per day + (time and patience) = muscle

thank you gentlemen. i took a lot of whey protein my freshmen year, then started taking creatine my sophomore year. what should i look into when purchasing whey protein or creatine. and how much of it should i take? im not too sure about how much creatine i should take when it is meant for adults. and is it better to eat 6 small meals in your day then it is to eat 3?

I can tell from your second post that you still aren't getting the point.  You are putting too much emphasis on the supplements when they don't make much difference.  If you want muscle, you should be asking what are the best foods to be eating, not the best supps to be taking.  You're 16.  As long as you eat enough, you will get bigger.

yeah i just thought since protein and creatine was mentioned  i would ask questions about it. and ive seen a lot of teenagers my age take it and have seen drastic improvements in their size. but back to the point. what should i be consuming on a daily basis? and how many meals should i eat a day?

Food = the most anabolic thing in the world.

If you want to gain some serious mass, multiply your body weight by 20-25 depending on your body type. Once you get that number, depending again on your body type, either do a moderate fat, high protein, high carb diet or a high fat, low carb, high protein diet.

I would eat 6-10 meals. Ten would be best so your muscles are always saturated with nutrients for optimal growth.

If you want to just make this simple though, eat a lot of protein and carbs at every meal and eat as many meals as you can. If you don't gain weight, eat more meals.

well i just did some little research on the high fat, low carb diet on webmd.com, and it gave me some bad facts. such as kidney failure and high cholesterol. so im interested in the mod fat, high protein, high carb diet. do you have any tips for me on what to eat for this certain diet? and daily plan. my guess would be, chicken, tuna, fish, beans, brown rice, whole grain bread, and whole pasta?

A good bulking diet consists of...

12-20% protein
55-65% carbohydrates
25-30% fats
a gallon or so of water

I don't think there is one template you should force yourself to stick to.  Each person has a different macronutrient ratio that is ideal for them.  You should just mess around with it until you find something that is easy to stick to and keeps your energy levels high.
