Weight gainer or not? - Thursday, February 02, 2006 5:56 PM
I've been wondering if i should get weight gainer, and if so what is the best brand to get in your oponion.  Someone said you gain sloppy mass.  I don't want that.  Is cell mass protein and weight gainer good?

Is cell mass protein and weight gainer good?

cellmass isn't protien but its good
weight gainer can be a sloppy mass and protien can do nothing for you... IF you take too much or not enough.
the trick is finding a balance

as for actual weight gainers mammoth 2500 is ok tasting (6 out of 10)
too grow 2000 was really good tasting (8 out of 10)
XXL isn't bad either (7.5 out of 10)

if your too lazy to calculate your caleries needed for wieght gain, like me
try 1 shake a day to start with
if you almost finish a tub and see no gain, go for two shakes
if your putting on weight too fast, cut it to half a shake
usually i do 1 before i work out (30min)
and 1 right after
this way you wont gain sloppy wieght
also its good to take a break after you go through a tub try waiting a week before you hop on the next tub
this will also help you lean out more

Check out this thread...

My advise is to avoid gainers with artificial anything.  In short, they cause fat formation to store toxins and mess with the metabolism....in addition to the other freaky health problems related to them.  And with the volume of the stuff you will ingest...

These three passed my clean, taste, and digestibility test so far!
Universal Nutrition  - Gain Fast 3100 (tried it and its good) they have other clean products

Champion Nutrition -  Super Heavyweight Gainer 1200 (tried it and its good) other products by them are not clean

NOW - Pro Gainer (tried it and its good)

NOW makes some other good clean products like Lean Grow...

But keep in mind, the only sloppy weight gain is from inappropriate overall diet or toxins in the diet!

Are you needing to pound down the calories?

Why are you considering a weight gainer...which is really just a meal replacement drink..with a balanced profile of carbs protein and fats???

Well it isnt so easy to gain weight and at school its hard to eat enough within the 8 to 9 hours i stay there.  When i get home i eat large meals.  We are allowed to eat in class, but its too much of a hassle and stuff.  Some one reccomended it so i'm trying to learn about it first before i get some.  Oh yeah i meant to say cell mass, protein powder, and weight gainer my bad.

Creatine will add water weight pounds, this water will be in the muscle...so not sloppy there.

Protein is useful for making sure you get enough protein at target times.  30 minutes after work out..30 minutes before too.

Weight gainers would be a great, simple replacement for a meal at school!

You bring the powder and a shaker with you.
Quick and easy, rinse the shaker out and you are done!

I am doing the Super Heavyweight Gainer 1200  in water right now.  The stuff is yummy and 2 scoops is 450 calories 25g protein 54g carbs and 15g fat

Of all the ones I have tried it is the most rich tasting.  I had it again today.  water, flax and 1/2 a banana...I was feeling that it really did not need the banana!  unlike the others, it is not super thick, even with the 2 scoops in there!  It is more like the thickness of milk.

This is the 1200 not the 900!!  my body seems to be ok with it as well.  With alot of these you have to go to the bathroom shortly after drinking them.  I have not had that experience with this.  I do drink a lot of water with mine.  I mix the 2 scoops into 12 ounces of water.  I have not pre blended it yet to consume later...so I can not comment on that yet.

I also have not taken it long enough to appreciate the long term effects it might have on my training.  I am enjoying it.  I actually look forward to it.

My daily calories are a bit low at the moment, but it leaves me satisfied until my next meal.

By the way, the protein is high enough in this that I don't have to add any to get what I need, which I usually have to with weight gainers.

1 container is 30 2-scoop servings FYI.

Sweet!!  Sounds perfect to me.  I'm getting a little tired of chugging my protein shake.  My goal is to weigh 170 next by november,  I'm 150 now.  Getting enough food at school should make it easier.  Someone said that grape fruit juice burns your bf.  Is that true?
