I just want to say hello and re-introduce myself a little.  I was once a regular active member of this site but fell off for a while.  I put on some fat weight and became the heaviest I ever have been in my life.  I then lost 35lbs. and am going to start a true weightlifting plan, and planning on gaining 1-1.5lbs a week.  Check out my fitness blog posted in my signature.  Later guys!

Updated my signature.

Marc, my weightlifting journal has it's first entry put in today and can be found here.

http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/m_291184/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#291184

Basically, I crash dieted, and wouldn't want anyone to get bad advice by hearing my story. Although I'm happy to be down to a reasonable weight (177lbs. at 5'10") after losing 35 pounds in about 2 1/2 months, I hope to never ever do that again to my body.

My motivation was to get down to a reasonable weight and size, so as to be able to justify starting a Clean Bulk and gaining real control over my metabolism.  I know that weight is not the important figure, but BF% is.  I have done underwater weighing twice.

March 26 2007:  200lbs, 25% Body Fat

August 24 2007: 177lbs, 21.3% Body Fat

I was astonished that I had lowered my BF% even after losing weight so rapidly.  I thought it would have increased and that I'd have been losing more muscle than fat, with how much running i was doing and how little I was eating.  By the way, after March 26th, I ballooned up another 10lbs. to 210.  My 2 1/2 months of weight loss is an estimate.

I'm excited to start lifting and will have my first session today.  It's going to be the first time I'll be lifting while eating to gain weight, if you can believe that.  You see, even having a decent knowledge base for a beginner, I just could not get it through my head that it was vital to gain weight to gain muscle, and that even though I'd be gaining weight I'd be decreasing my BF% and therefore looking better.  Even now, I had to lose a bunch of weight to get to a point where I could commit to gaining 1-1.5lbs. a week.  It's tough when you're a little bit overweight and have a jello-like physique to decide that the best way to change your appearance is to gain weight.
