Weight Gainers? - Monday, August 14, 2006 10:11 AM
this is probly a dumb question but are weight gainers meant to be used to reach your caloric need for the day, or are weight gainers meant for you to have it above and beyond your caloric needs?

Usually to go beyond so you "gain weight."

For those that just can't seem to get enough calories to put on the pounds, a weight gainer can be an essential tool.

Of course, used too much it can just make you fat and if the wrong one is used, it ends up being a lot of sugars.

But if you find that you need 4000 calories a day to gain weight or more (maybe you do some type of sport too) and you simply cannot eat enough food, then a regular protein shake won't cut it.

So people use weight gainers.

You could make your own weight gainer (many shake receipes out there) or just eat more high caloric foods.

In any case, it's a tool you can use to put on weight and it's usually to get you above and beyond what you can do with regular foods when you have a very high caloric need and you just can't seem to do it with eating real foods.

where i am now i need 3000 calories to maintain, i eat about 3300 for a bulk which worked for about a month or two, now my gains have slowed down, ive changed up my exercises and just recentyl bumped my calories up to 3500.  if that doesnt work im gonna buy a weight gainer cuz anything past 3500 calories, i just cant squeeze into a day.

if i get a weight gainer, im gonna look for a good quality one that doesnt have 90g of sugar.  if i were to getting, say 3800 calories because of the gainer, would i be gaining fat still.  i know a calorie is a calorie but i figured a shake is different than food and maybe it wont just add fat on my frame.

Revere is true.

A shake takes less energy to break down.  It's much more likely you will put on fat by taking them then if you were to eat real foods.

That is why I caution you to take them with care as it's pretty easy to put on some serious weight if you go overboard with them.

Hey. you are around the same caloric intake range as myself. Im currently using Cytogainer as my weight gainer to meet the calories. one serving with milk is around 900 cals. Its got a bunch of other stuff in it too but its working for me. http://www.discountanabolics.com/p/CS06
