Hi! Unfortunately, you will never see your ab muscles if you have fat covering them. You have to lose overall fat which means eating healthy and exercising to burn calories. The easiest way to start, is by replacing most of your daily fluids with water. Sodas and juices have lots of sugar and calories that contribute to weight gain. Try to eat lots of lean proteins(chicken, fish, tuna, etc...) and lots of veggies. Skip the sauces and butters, and you should be seeing a difference. Counting calories sucks, but doing this will give you a good idea of how much you are really taking in. Keeping a food journal is a great way to do this. 3,500 calories equals one pound, so if you can shave off 500 cals/day, either through diet, exercise, or both, you can lose 1 lb per week and those ab muscles will shine through. Hope this helps, and good luck!
