I drink about a gallon and a half to two gallons a day- Every day. Even when you're not lifting, water is extremely important. Most people walk around dehydrated every day and don't even realise it- Yet they wonder why they have low energy, headaches, sore feet, etc- I've found that just by increasing my water intake, a lot of these things don't seem to be a problem anymore. your body needs more water than most people think- Bodybuilding or not. Our bodies contain a lot of water- Blood is mostly water, for example. Muscles contain water. Water is used to help lubricate our joints. Without enough water, which is also used to transport oxygen and nutrients through our system, our bodies don't function properly. One way to figure out how much water you need is to divide your own weight in half, and drink that number in ounces per day. So, someone who weighs two hundred pounds would need one hundred ounces of water a day. For physical activity, drink another eight to ten ounces per twenty minutes of activity to make up for fluid loss. The best way to get all that water in is to carry water around with you as often as possible, and sip it constantly. Don't try to down a whole bottle all at once.

But does drinking that much water make you lose weight? and im around 220 so I would need 110 ounces of water, how many glasses would that calculate out to? ThanksSmile It depends on the size of the glass, for 8oz glasses it's ~ 14 glasses for 12 oz glasses its ~9 glasses for 16 oz glasses it's ~ 7 glasses. I'd suggest more intake than this, as cpl said he drinks 1.5-2 gallons a day that's 196-256 oz a day. somhow i doubt he weighs 400lbs

Best water drinking tips: -Save the 32oz or 44oz or whatever cups from fast food or 7/11. -Fill one with water (ice water is best) and bring it to your computer whenever you come to these forums -Sip on it while you are here and when you run out just refill real fast, so you can get back to posting action Then you will get your water in for the day.. with the time i spend on these forums.. god i could hyperhydrate from the list above.

(ice water is best) this really depends on your goals. Keep in mind that your body will try to raise the temperature of the water to body temperature- Which requires calories. It takes one Calorie to raise the temperature of one kilgram of water one degree- Naturally, no-one's drinking a kilo of water all at once, but when you think about the number of degrees of difference between 32 degree water and your body temp, it can add up a little. On some of my longer-range camping/hiking trips, where food weight and calorie consumption was a big issue, I always made sure to drink only warm water. It's easier for your body to handle the closer it is to your body temp, and because it doesn't steal as many calories to warm up as cold or ice water, those calories can be used for more important things. Yeah, that might be getting too technical for this sort of question- But, basically, ice water isn't always better. It might give the illusion of cooling you off, but in the long run actually causes your body temp to increase some to warm it up.
