Creation The muscle is 60% or more water, soo if your dehydrated all the time will the body break down muscle to get water? anyone know the answer to this? I don't know if I understand your question. Water is present inside and outside of muscle cells but the actual cell membrane and machinery is not composed of water. Rather than breaking down muscle, water moves from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration(osmosis), or said another way, areas of low solute concentration to areas of high solute concentration. If you are dehydrated water will move out of the cells due to lower concentrations, and thus higher solute concentration on the outsides of cells because the inside of the cell is hypotonic to its environment. This is why the body maintains a certain equilibrium of water and why sodium intake can change this equilibrium, and should be monitored (and is by the body-to a certain point)). Hope that makes sense.

if you're dehydrated all the time, you probably live in a third world environment, are malnourished to begin with, and have no access to a gym, so the question becomes irrelevant
Goals: -Find more time to get to the gym..

If you feel thirsty youre already dehydrated. ha yea i know, that was more of an example in the most extreme cases where you constantly have no ready water source and are thus dehydrated all the time. just for the reason that if your serious into lifting you should probably carry around water constantly

dud like 80% of America is constantly in a dehydrated state the reason i ask is cause your body will break down parts of bone to get calcium etc. and i thought well **** if your muscle is made mostly of water then **** why wouldnt your body break it down to get that water. But basically the body can get the water without breaking down the muscle red jeep?
