Want to start this diet, critique? - Wednesday, May 28, 2008 8:48 AM
Hi, i've been around high 14 percent BF for about a month now...i can see the vertical lines defining my abs now but i crave more!!! I want to start cutting for the summer (even though its a little late lol) so i figure i'd try eating a bit differently. I've been eating this for the past few days.

Breakfast- Coffee
               Whole wheat bagel

Snack-      Granola/cereal bar

Lunch-      Canned Tuna

Snack-      Apple

Dinner-     Grilled Chicken Breast
              Salad
(can i make it a ceaser or is that bad)

Snack if need to- celery with minimal ranch dressing

Is this bad what im doing? Where can i improve? I want to be cutting so give me some feedback!

Thanks!!

Seems low on protein for a cutting diet, or a bodybuilder's diet in general. Canned tuna and grilled chicken breast is great. I'd stay away from ceaser salad (very high fat in the dressing). I'm stay away from ranch dressing too if you can, if not get light ranch, it tastes about the same anyway. Try to get some protein in the morning (egg whites are good). I think replacing your granola/cereal bar and apple at snack times with a protein bar or shake would go a long way towards reaching your goals. This is the basic diet I've done to go from 20+% BF to around 10% this year:

Breakfast - Oatmeal and egg whites (hard boiled or scrambled) low-carb energy drink
Snack - protein bar (just now switching this to a casein protein shake)
Lunch - Turkey sandwich
After workout - Whey protein shake
Dinner - Grilled Chicken Breast and broccoli or spinach

Obviously I have cheat meals from time to time or mix it up a little.. sometimes I do tuna sandwiches or whatever. But that's what's been working for me. Also, drink LOTS of water. Hope that helps.

Hi, i've been around high 14 percent BF for about a month now...i can see the vertical lines defining my abs now but i crave more!!! I want to start cutting for the summer (even though its a little late lol) so i figure i'd try eating a bit differently. I've been eating this for the past few days.

Breakfast- Coffee I'd add the coffee later on into the cut. Try green tea, it's awesome!
Whole wheat bagel Drop it. You don't want that huge insulin spike right in the morning.
Add some protein. Eggs? Sausages? I find scrambled egg with onions, green peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes along with a sausage and oatmeal is great. If you don't want the oatmeal you can even eat the apple you have below now.

Snack-      Granola/cereal bar No. That will likely produce an insulin spike. Add some fats and protein. Almonds are good but don't over do it. Throw in a lot of carrots as well.

Lunch-      Canned Tuna Some fats + lots of broccoli and lettuce in a salad topped with lemon.

Snack-      Apple Eliminate this. Eat chicken legs or thighs instead of the chicken breast below, that way, you'll save some money and can use it to buy more legs + thighs. Then add the extra here with some more veggies.

Dinner-     Grilled Chicken Breast
             Salad
(can i make it a ceaser or is that bad) I wouldn't make it caesar, use olive oil and lemon as toppings. There are a lot more alternatives but this is what I do.

Snack if need to- celery with minimal ranch dressing Try eating some Cottage cheese + peanut butter :)

Is this bad what im doing? Where can i improve? I want to be cutting so give me some feedback!

Thanks!!

IMO that's a horribe diet for cutting.
You're likely going to lose a lot of muscle and those are far too few calories so you probably won't feel and perform at your highest. A few simple carbs and no veggies, where them vitamins and minerals at?
Refer to edits up-top.

Hope that helps
