Want to get into body building - Friday, December 19, 2008 5:06 PM ( #1 )
Sup guys im Martin. Ive been wanting to get into body building for a while now. Im currently 17 and i used to have weight class which was lots of fun in there. That was back in 11th grade. I got clumsy and lazy at the end of the 11th grade and man did i gain loads of fat from doing nothing all day. I really haven't excercised for a while now. Now i regret it and want to get built up. I weight around 170 lbs currently and planning on buying some equipment soon. Were on a budget so i cant afford all the equipment that i might need at a time. I will be buying a bench press this week. If anyone can help me out on a plan that includes excercises/ nutrition / and anything i may need to build myself up, I would really appreciate it. Forgot to mention I am 5"11 and right now i would like to focus mainly on loosing fat / converting it to muscle since i dont wanna to look all skinny but just a little bulky hopefuly. Thanks to those who might want to help me.

Well you sound like a perfect person to do starting strength. And for diet you know what is generally healthy so but concincious (spelling?) of what you eat but eat like a horse.
Goals by end of 2009:
Bench 205
Squat 255 ATG
Squat Clean 185

Youre so lucky to have this at your disposal just as your starting out.

Other guys your age would be doing bicep curls, crunches and then necking a protein shake.

Eat to build muscle and you will build muscle.

The first thing I'd advise you to do is make yourself a nutritional plan, if you aren't feeding yourself with the proper nutrients from muscle growth, lifting weights is a complete waste of time.

slow digesting carbs like multigrain bread and oat meal
and non processed meats
lots of those
but body building nutrition is a galaxy of info, i recently picked up The Encyclapedia of bodybuilding by robert kennedy
that book got me on the right track as far as nutrition goes plus it is very informative in general it cost $40 buy it now if you are just starting

and bodybuilding is one word
if that stuffed worked
it wouldn't be legal
take that supplement industry
