Wait!  GOT IT!

Don't be mad... maybe it's just that particular avatar...

A younger version of Charles Gibson!  or Roland, from The Matrix Reloaded.

Maybe it's just the way you're looking at that camera incredulously, like Chuck did when he was interviewing Sarah Palin... you need reading glasses to look over the top of.

I'll put up a different avi every day until I'm not so perplexed at that little box with the little TV in it.  Well I hope I look as good as Charles Gibson does when I'm that old.  Not diggin' that Matrix guy.  Would enjoy either of their bank accounts!  You don't think I look like Brad Pitt?  Now WHO needs the glasses?!

Hey, at least you don't have people comparing you to Richard Belzer -and let's face it, even I have to concede that one!

Dick Balz is one funny dude, don't you think?  He does standup, no?  Are you saying people think you look like him?  I gotta think of whom you remind me (was that proper grammer?).

What does "work from home" mean, exactly?  Will we be DBBing extensively tomorrow, or what?

He looks like he's muttering "My god, I didn't know this ship could do that!"

Yeah, I saw the Tackle Man's routine on comedy central once.  They bleeped out so much of it, I had to change the channel.  I mean what's the point if I have to GUESS what he's saying?  I could write my OWN bit and stick his face on it if THAT'S what I'm gonna get

And lets not bash leg press! It's a great exercise, I use that machine a lot. Only problem is the one in my gym is a cable machine rather than plates and only goes up to 441lbs - not that I can do that yet, but when I can it'll be made redundant

And no squat alternative comments. Thankyou.

The leg press machine has it's place, but is (like you said) no alternative for squats. The leg press machine has gotten a bad reputation due to newbies that use it for ego boosting only. It's actual a good piece of equipment.

Come on, bros.  You know I'm not bashing the leg press machine.  I use it too when I can get access to one.  I'm bashing people who use leg presses exclusively (because it pads their ego to load it up with eight to ten plates), even though they have access to harder and less glamorous, yet ultimately more effective alternatives.

V,
Improvise, man!  Have leg press babe stand on that cable stack of yours.  Problem solved.  CHECK!  ;)

The owner of the gym is anal about stuff like that lol, he hates me doing deadlifts (I am the only person in the entire gym who does deadlifts, even though it's a hole in the wall gym with a ton of members several of whom are big guys) because I sometimes have to put the weight down fast and the gym is on the second floor above a bar and restaraunt. He's a pretty big guy (the owner) himself, but I have to question his training knowledge. Everyone he trains he either gives a poor program full of isolations or he personally trains them and they just seem to never progress. I've never seen him have anyone squat, deadlift or chinup.

This gym sounds like a hoot and a nightmare.  A gym above a restaurant?  He doesn't have guys do squats, deads, or chins?  Actually the trainers at my gym don't have newbies do those either.  But it's weird if the big guys aren't doing them.  What goes on?  DBs and bench presses, mostly?  Do the guys have any legs to speak of?  Backs?  Or are they all chest and arms?

Well he has the noobs doing all the isolations and machines, ridiculous.

As for the big guys they do pretty much everything except chins, dips, deads and squats. But they always favor bench and do silly amounts of sets on it. I'm sure in 2 years time I'll be lifting the same as them and without the substances they are taking.

Are they able to touch their toes or put their hands together?  Do they do the pole-up-a$$ walk?  How do they get up the stairs to the gym?  Curious.  ;)

lol well when I say big I'm not talking crazy ass big, I've only seen 2 guys come in that looked like semi-pros and only seen them a couple of times. The other (maybe 4-5) are just strong, thick torso'd blokes who look like they've been training a good 5-10 years.

How old are they?  Also, are there gym chains in the UK like here in the US (YMCA, Gold's, etc.)?  Or is everything small and independent?  People are less into fitness there or no?

The only gym chains here are the ones that cost a bomb and mainly cater for people doing cardio on machines, and have swimming pools and saunas and tanning beds and crap. All the hardcore ones are privately owned.

That's what blew my mind about Gold's Gym here in Northern VA.  From all the literature and reputation, I was expecting a nice hardcore free-weight temple, brimming with testosterone, the clang of plates and tortured grunts echoing off the concrete walls, the bars stained with the chalk and sweat of a thousand palms, benches patched with duct tape, a few aging black & white posters of Arnie and Franco hung crookedly above the mirrors.  I was expecting to breathe in the heavy, heady scent of well-trodden rubber mats and the lingering funk of perspiration, and to see men and women three times my size, grimacing through clenched teeth at their reflections as they hammered out reps with iron kissed by the faintest touch of rust.

Nope.  It was a flippin' spa environment.  With a daycare center.  A hideous overabundance of pretty Cybex machines all gleaming and polished, lined up with such exacting precision in a circuit, they must have been placed with the assistance of a laser level.  Celine Dion (I swear to GOD) on the PA system, row upon row of day-traders and telecom desk jockeys, plodding along on treadmills set to a slow walking pace, gazing vapidly at the bank of televisions all tuned to CNN with the sound turned down and subtitles on.

Talk about a letdown

Veg, let me help you turn that iron dungeon of yours into a Gold's of old.  Just print and post!

Quite an unfortunate hand position there, Franco, LOL.  Just kidding.  Anyone know who the triceps monster in front is?

Now, as I am most stinky from that leg workout I just blew up, I'm going to hit the shower.  I think I'll wander around my own personal "locker room" stark naked for an unnecessary ten minutes and pretend that I'm annoying other gym-goers with my excessive nonchalance.  Maybe I'll strike up a convo about Obama's handling of health care reform with my dog, LOL!

Okay, the image changed completely after about 10 seconds when it dawned on me that you actually have a real dog.  LMAO!!  The first image is choice!  ;)

Btw, what's your "dog"'s name?
