Vitamin B Complex - Wednesday, February 25, 2004 6:16 AM
Hey i was wondering if anybody else takes Vitamin B Complex High Potentcy. If you do i was wondering if it makes your urine neon yellow. I ask because i noticed it did that to mine and it had the same smell as the pills. I was wondering if this is normal or if this could be harmful. Thanks

The vitamin B Complex pill is suppose to be an energy metabolism. Its actually made up of Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B-6, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid and Calcium. All of them are over the daily value percent except calcium,Biotin and Folic Acid. Why would they have this pill if they are all over the daily percent? Why would anybody take this pill then if its to much for your body?

Maybe not 100% of the pills are too much ... but a part .... it depend of what you eat too .... all of this stuff are "Supplements" and if you eat for 50% of the daily usage .... the pills take effect for the 50% missing .... to make sure that you have your 100% daily use ...

It's Riboflavin (B2) that makes your urine neon yellow. Interestingly, riboflavin can aslo be blue, red, or clear. I'm glad it doesn't come out of ME in those colors, though!

B vitamins are water soluble, so your body can't store them. If you get too much, they just passes on to your kidneys.

The RDAs are estimates, some people will need more, some less. The reason people take megadoses is to make sure they get more than they need, no matter how much they do need. Some people think that super high doses of vitamins have other benefits, but I don't think this is really turning out to be true in actual research.

Personally, I take a regular multivitamin without Iron.

Keep taking those Bs they do have many health benifits, more than I feel like typing at the moment, just look in any nutrition text book. If your multi has plenty of Bs you might want to only take that pill on cardio days to round things out or cut the tab in half. your pee will still be yellow though. It doen't take all that much to cause that. The RDA is outdated and useless but make sure you get a GOOD text book that lists toxicity levels for minerals and fat soluable vitamins and don't exceed that dose. Educate yourself and think for yourself . Its your body. Not your buddy,s and not your doctor's.

Hey Barber.... I was taking the Vitamin B complex for a while as well... and my pee was super yellow too! The friend that gave me them to try, said that meant I already had effiecient Vitamin B, and it was being flushed out of my system... However, it doesn't do any harm to still take them from what I've heard..

If you have a balanced diet you shouldn't need to take additional B vitamins. That being said, I have a B uptake problem so I need to supplement and yes from time to time your urine will be a pretty, bright yellow/light orange.
