I think I may have downloaded a trojan.
I deleted all the files it may have come from.
So that stopped the porno banner ads.

Now...

Myspace page wont load
Google, any search engine will come up to the home page but will not search

I searched my computer for files that were created the past three days i found most of the files I KNOW are virus but when i press delete they wont delete most of them are .sol file types

Help pleaseeee Smile

Edit: I used a proxy to access myspace it works now but wth it wont work without the proxy like it blocked or something this never happened before

Best bet now is to just do a windows reinstall if you're seeing errors like that. Odds are no anti virus is going to completely remove the viruses and other crap.

Best anti virus is avg. It's acctually free. I've had most of the big antiviruses like Norton and they are crap compared to avg.
Also periodically scan with adaware and spybot search and destroy as well as the avg anti rootkit.

You're running vista or xp?

Reformat is the last resort which looks like what im going to have to do

Im just going to lose a few programs because my cd-rom no longer reads CDs because a piece is missing

If I re-install vista will programs such a internet explorer but installed with it?

That's why I always have at least two drives, if one messes up I can always back the other one up. Vista on one and xp on the other.

But yeah internet explorer 7 is built into vista so you'll still have that.

Reformatting is just the best way to go.

How are you going to reinstall windows if your dvd drive is bust thought?

Here:
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10834624

Trying to delete a virus manually like that is a pain. Try running a scan with avg, maybe it'll find everything.

Try System Restore to before you had the virus. I don't have Vista but in XP it's Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

Spybot Search And Destroy
AVG Free Anti-Virus

Download both programs and install them.  Boot in safe mode, you can do this by restarting your computer and repeatedly hitting F8 until a menu pops up. Choose the first Safe Mode. Run both programs and remove any entries you see. Should get you back to normal.

Make sure you update both programs before going into Safe Mode.

if you still can't get rid of the virus.... you can disable system restore (pc backs up files) and then go to run/msconfig and do a safe boot.

with the pc in safe mode and system restore off, you are now able to delete the virus and it won't come back.  go into your web-browser (no.. the internet won't work, but that's ok) and delete all internet cookies, temp files, passwords.. etc...

then do a full system virus scan.  delete any virus's in quarantine.

run/msconfig

normal boot - startup.  then enable system restore.  (click on start, find mycomputer and right click on it)
you should be good to go.

i get a trojan every once in a while.  no need to reformatt the whole pc.  it's got that system restore that keeps it from permanently deleting stuff like that, but it's an easy fix.  PM me if you need further assistance

All system restore does is remove .exe's that have been added to the comp and completely removes/uninstalls what's been installed since the restore date.

And perhaps moves around files you might've moved around (ie. you move jpg file from folder a to folder b, it's moved back to folder a).

k.. well, the point i was trying to make is that you can delete the virus over and over, but until you DISABLE system restore.. it won't permanently be gone

If you restore to an early enough a date, even if the virus in a .rar has been added to your computer and is still technically there as an exe inside the rar (if it was the exe, then it would've been annihilated through the process), the system is restored to a date where it hasn't been activated yet. So it's like going back in time. Then you can just delete the rar with no dramas.

I say you're better off trying system restore before you go disabling anything...
It's always worked like a charm for me.

System restore will generally only work for badly written trojans. As for AVG free,

and Spybot
