Very loose shoulders - Tuesday, February 24, 2009 12:11 PM ( #1 )
hey everybody
iam looking for some advice for a serious problem for me. it is that my rotator cuffs are loose and when i relax my body my rotators push infront and become the same level as my pecs. i have tried push ups and all the techniques for lifting barbells but still there is no benefit to my pecs and it is always wrecking my shoulders cuz of the loose rotator cuffs. i want to correct the stance using home workout.please i really need this advice

Instead of working on the front, work the back.  Focus on strengthening your rear delts, traps, and upper back to pull everything into alignment.  Working your lower back will also help with total body alignment.

You should consider going to a physical therapist. The basic ones you can do at home are with a band.  Internal and external rotations with your elbow at your side or straight out ant 90%.  Benefits of physical therapy is a much more broad range of exercises, and they can do things like E-stim and ultrasound therapy.  RTC is not something you want to mess with, and I don't think push ups are the answer, you are going to need to do a lot of focussing on pulling your shoulders back and shoulder blades together as well when you do things.  might want to get a doctor's opinion too.

but if i worked on my back upper body, it will result in a relatively big back to a small and thin front appearance. i mean i told you before than no matter what excersize i do i never get a sore feeling in my chest muscles cuz my shoulders always move the pressure towards them not to the pecs!

thing is you need to work your back to hold your shoulders in proper position it isn't about getting your back big. It's about fixing your loose shoulders.  really go to a doctor and they will tell you the same thing and get you on track to be healthy.

You wont just get a huge upper back while everything else stays thin. Its the same way you cant spot reduce fat.

You need to work on developing your rear delts and upper back/lower back it will help pull your shoulders back.

Doing things like rows, OH press, and deadlifts focusing on keeping your back straight and shoulders pulled back will help you.
