Hi, I am new to using creatine and would like to find some information on the use of it in a sport such as basketball. I would like opinions from people who have used it and anyone who might have some insight into this supplement. Here is the deal. I currently play in a basketball league and spend a good amount of time running. I try not to do too much weight lifting, because I don't want it to affect my shooting, plus I do not want it to slow me down. So far, I have been using it for a few weeks (three) and have not seen any negative effects, except a little dehydration during last week's game. However, I don't know if I should attribute that to the creatine or to the fact that I was playing for a long time, before the game even started. To prevent dehydration, I have been drinking it along with GNC's QuickFuel, which is packed with 50 grams of carbohydrates in each serving. This week, I tried a new strategy to prevent dehydration. I drank creatine mixed with my QuickFuel (like I always do) in the late evening and drank a lot of water before going to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I drank some more water and some more QuickFuel, at least an hour before the game. I don't know if I have solid evidence that it worked well, but I think it did, because I was able to run the entire game and was soaking wet sweat, but did not feel dehydrated at all. Now, though I am being lead to believe that I have found a way to prevent dehydration, while using creatine, I would like to hear from others who might know more about this supplement than I do. Please feel free to criticize as you like. Thank you in advance for any and all responses.

Never taken creatine and don't know much about it, but when it comes to dehydration-just drink loads of water, "quickfuel" whats its ingredients? I think you will find stimulant drinks like them or drinks that give a kick of energy are useless for RE hydrating you, lucozade for example it says on it "shouldnt be used as a re hydration drink" as it contains glucose etc which looking at the carb intake of that drink it too is most likely made from high energy sugars. Just drink plenty of water, while reading around here they say 1 gallon a day, however thats with weightlifting etc, so you could probably get away with a little less, but even without any exercises they say you should try to drink 2 litres a day anyway no matter what you do

take it after you play. It dehydrates you more if you take it before the game....
