Untraditional Training - Tuesday, July 21, 2009 12:38 PM ( #1 )
As I get more and more into grappling and my technique gets better and matches get longer I realize I am getting outclassed by guys that have been doing it for years. I am wearing out way earlier than they are. I realize a lot of this is just that they do it 4 days for years, their technique is better, and they know how to breathe properly and conserve energy.

Also even though I am "stronger" as defined by weight lifting, I am not stronger when it comes to movements associated with working with another human body. So I did some searching around on how to build these strengths. I found this book here which just from the excerpt gives me some ideas:

http://www.turtlepress...._grappling_strength.aspx

So I could get a couple sand bags, and I could start looking around for a 300 lbs tire to flip around the yard and driveway, but does anybody have any experience with this type of strength training or have any pointers for working it in with standard barbell strength training? Maybe add some of the kettle ball training and a sandbag and tire for after my standard workout?
