Virt,
Get 'em, tiger!  Grrrr!  Yep, seems you were in the right!
Wow, seems you may have more rights over there than we do over here!

Good weekend!  Try to stay out of trouble.  ;)

Apparently you and I have a different definition of "detainment."  Aside from that issue, I've stayed away from discussing the legal specificities because I simply didn't know about them.  That's some interesting info you posted, and I'm glad you did.  I still think that you handled the situation very immaturely.  Yet's comment above seems incredibly appropriate.  But like I said before, if you wanna take that attitude with authority, that's your problem.  I'm not a particularly angry or masochistic person, so I probably would've complied and been done with it as quickly as possible, with the knowledge that I can file a complaint after the ordeal if I consider it worth my time.  No need for me to go around kicking policemen in order to make a point.

But that's just me.

Im just assuming that your laws are similar to ours, but if you are a suspect to a possible crime the police have the rights to detain you with out telling you what you might be charged with until actual questioning begins (in which miranda would take place).  I really dont think your rights were violated at all, they suspected you of something and you didnt cooperate like you should have.   i dont know british law 100% but i bet your rights were not violated

lol I just find it remarkable how you think you know british law better than myself who lives here and has researched the subject heavily, a criminal law solicitor, and a police investigator whos job it is to make sure the correct course of action is/was taken.

You know more...bizzare.

I guesss you missed the part when i said i dont know british law 100% lol.   If you researched as much as you say you would have know better than crying like a little baby and assaulting police officers, correct?

You don't have the simplest grasp of it, nevermind knowing it 100% - yet you readily make 'bets' on the subject.

It's simply laughable how ready you are to bend over for them. I suppose not only would you be fine with them assaulting you, you'd also happily bend over for an anal search simply because they wanted you to. Nice

You should have just gotten into the car it's not a big deal.

I dont see why he should have.
Reading Virtuosos OP i can picture this clearly all happening its happened to me too many times, sometimes ive been clearly in the wrong drunk or whatever at a club but 1 particular instance they really took the piss out of me and the worst thing is they can and the pigs know it.

Virt im thinking they just had **** all to do and drove past and see a big guy in a hoodie thats enough for them to be complete assholes and make themselves feel big for the day,i woulda kicked them too if they touched me.
If i were you i'd be belling my solicitor asap,i hate the police and they get no respect from me ive seen too many abuse power be there good pigs or not.

Where in Manchester are you? ive been to Moss side before and dam is that place ghetto!

I feel ya man I came from a very poor african american neighborhood in southern LA.  Ive seen it all when it comes to crimes and police.  Ive been in the middle of it too.  From what Ive seen the police are just a bunch of ignorant pigs.  Most are a bunch of little pussys and thats why they would ignore the hoods in the 90s.  Just like what NWA said,  "F**K the Police!"  Brings back memories...

Back in the where and the when, he is referring to, it wouldn't have mattered if called them or not... they would have beat him regardless... that was a pretty shame full time and place for law enforcement, in this country...

But this thread has reconfirmed a truth it took me entirely too long to learn... Considering the cross section of humanity we have on this board the issues with authority, and the emotional baggage that seemingly colors many people actions...This is something I have noticed to be true in all the powerful and well adjusted people i respect, it is also a characteristic I find most attractive in a man. I think I will mention it.

A truly self assure and dominate person does not need to constantly control and be in charge of every situation... they are confidant enough to understand that the world does not revolve around themselves, and many times an other (even a piss poor other), may have the right to assert their will over their own. A truly dominate person is not threatened by others authority, They know that when it matters, they can and will dominate the situation. If person must constantly run the show, no matter what show it might be, whether they have any right or authority over it, if they can not take a reprimand, reminder (about something they might have not considered), or a suggestion or request, they are truly the most insecure of people, worried that they will get found out as weak, and subservient, because deep down they know it to be true...A dominate person does not need to constantly assert it because they just are.

That is not aimed at anyone in this discussion, not worded well, but it has been one hell of a morning, already... I though it was worth posting.
