Certainly, no offense taken.

I am in a Pre-Med Program and I know exactly what we have time for.
There is time to include a line on prevention with causation and as well as provide a good source for the info for the diseases we study.

Quick question for you nutrition geniuses....I read this thread and learned a lot.  I'm currently drinking 1/2 gatorade and 1/2 water mixed with 5g BCAA during my workouts.  The gatorade has corn syrup and also high fructose corn syrup in it.  I previously thought HFCS was ok as long as you're exercising, but now from reading all these posts I'm not sure if I was correct.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks!

It is not perfect, but it is probably a better use of it than as a straight food additive.
You don't get some of the hormonal benefits that you would from a better carb source, but as far as replenishing some carbs...it will do that.

I was under the impression that corn syrup was actually terrible for muscle gain, I did not read all the thread because I don't have much time but I saw how some people just use it freely in drinks and regular foods. Is there like a "safe amount" of corn syrup one can consume, sort of speak?

You are correct, it is really not very good at all.

It WAS cheap and that was the reason it was in wide use.

Safe amount?  ..as little as you can!!!

The less you consume the better off you will be.

Avoid it if possible.

Its interesting to me - the weeks that I have a few sodas, those are the weeks that I have no weight gains.

What do you mean by a few sodas? A few meaning that you consume a couple that week and you don't usually do?

Well I am happy I was not mistaken about the corn syrup issue.

I have also read that the rising and falling of sugar levels is the cause of cravings. This is really informative. This has only given me more reasons to think twice before I eat

Hi danmirage

Great post about corn syrup. I agree 100%. Personally I use Stevia, raw honey, Agave and Xylitol as sugar substitutes and they work great for me.

All the best
