Under garments for comfort for growing bodybuilders - Saturday, July 18, 2009 3:20 PM ( #1 )
Someone asked me this in a PM and I thought it was a good question and worth posting.
Just a quick run down...First and foremost I have been a bodybuilder...on top of that, I was a sprinter, then an obstacle course runner, then I was in an elite combat team...then I was a dancer....

I have always been very warm and as my thighs grew...there were comfort problems with normal cloths.  Because I was a dancer, I was accustomed to wearing 1/4 length tights.  These are basically like 1/4 length cycling tights without the padding.  They move heat away from the body and keep you dry.

Now I wear Under Armor.  It is by far the best product I have ever worn, and I have worn many, many products.

One rule...never put them in the dryer...it breaks the microfibers and makes them uncomfortable.  Hang them to dry.

(Keep in mind that my choices are based on my being always hot...though I have used this same combination in winter sports at 45 below in Vermont)

Mostly I wear these Under Armour bottoms:

However, just to be clear I wear the Under Armour over another layer...I don't like boxers or most briefs and instead wear these:

The strings are NOT a G-String, but have a full rear, however the front is minimal...which is more comfortable for me. They just wrap up my package and and keep it stationery, leave the rest free.

My upper body is also always quite hot and naturally, every 5 lean pounds over 190 means I might chafe more when it is humid.

I have not had to resort to Under Armor for tops yet and simply wear a snug 100% cotton t-shirt under everything...or just a fairly snug T-shirt when that is all I need.  When I say snug, I mean it hugs my torso, underarm, and arms so they are never rubbing.

PS.
Since I mentioned it..
In the 45 below setting, I do wear Chillies long sleeve cold gear top and full length cold gear bottom!
However when I am out training (snow shoeing, x-country skiiing, etc)  I only wear wind pants and the Under Armor over the Jocky and a Chillies top under a Polar Tech...add gloves, a turtle fur, and a beanie.  I stay dry, warm, and slippery.

What are Chillies?  A base layer!

Is it bad to wear boxers all the time? Can it effect anything package wise?

They are fine and so long as you are comfortable, there should be no problem.
