I'm about 155lbs. I would like start a really good bulking stage for future contact sports. In order to do this I plan on (and taking):

- Constantly during the day: Possibly 4 or 5 Meals with snacks
-Take Creatine
-Take Protein Shakes (Powder)
-Eat as much Lean Meats, Chicken, and Tuna as possible.

If I keep the foods reasonably healthy, would this be a healthy way to bulk up? I will lift wieghts of course, but for all this eating is only 15minutes of cardio really necessary. I feel only this little will allow me to gain more fat that needed while bulking. Should I do cardio for 1 hour every other day? What is the best take on cardio? And is this eating routine a healthy/good one?

If you can help I would very much appreciate that. Thanks

-Spot

I feel like you have a good plan for bulking. Should start counting your calories. Don't want to gain too much too fast, and also don't want to use more calories then your taking in. For your weight I'd say if you took in 3800 calories per day (have a weight maintenance program) you'd gain about 2lbs per week. As far as cardio, I would do cardio only on days you don't lift. Your muscles will need all of the calories your taking in for energy. As long as your eating healthy food you won't gain a lot of fat. You'll obviously gain some fat, but the healthier you eat the leaner the mass you'll gain. You'll be able to shred the unwanted fat after you finish your bulking phase. The results you get from bulking though will definately make you glad you put yourself through all of that eating though (eating is the hardest part for me during a bulking phase) Good luck man.

You don't need to worry much about cardio / running, because while bulking you want a calorie surplus, and cardio just contributes to a deficit. Although some believe that sprints can be very beneficial to mass gaining...

my opinion is that you should use anabolic steroids and creatine,,
ok

no offense, but stfu. you know nothing.

you got a good bulk plan. my recommendation would be to eat even more, lik 6-8 meals a day. cardio is very beneficial while bulking. it keeps fat levels down, and keeps your heart healthy. don't go overboard with cardio, but keep it in your routine. if you don't, after your bulk, you wont even be able to run half a mile without going into cardiac arrest. (a little exxagerated, but you get the point. it'll be a hell of a lot harder to run.) good luck on the bulk. if you have any more questions, PM me or just post back in this thread.

Hi this is my first post here, and I'm in the exact same boat. I'm 5'11 158 pounds, and have a hell of a hard time gaining muscle. I'm eating about 7 meals a day plus weight gainer shakes and protein shakes. For about 2 months I was eating like 5500 calories a day, 200 grams of protein, and an assload of carbs. I've heard that was too many calories and I cut it down to about 4000. I've gone way up in strength in every aspect, I don't use weight I can do over 8 reps with. Yet Ive only gone up about 8 pounds in the last 2 months! I train hard weekdays and take weekends off. I walk and stand on my feet all day long 8 hours a day and walk a lot.
I really just need someone to tell me the day I should do what routine, chest monday, legs....tuesday. I just can't figure it out! Also what combinations of muscles to work together, should I stop taking weekends off and just keep a constant rotation? If someone could please just give me a routine that might work it would be greatly appreciated! What types of excersices for each day and number of reps would be ideal, but I don't want to ask for too much on my first post! Thanks a lot.

I suggest you up the weight and do lower reps, like 5-7. the split, since you're so active, should be something with a lot of rest. some examples:

Chest/Shoulders/Tris
Back/Bis/Forearms
Legs/Abs

OR

Chest/Bis/Forearms
Legs/Abs
Back/Shoulders/Tris

You should stick with compound excercises, as they hit multiple muscles in one movement. examples would be: squats, deadlifts, bench press, anything that works more than one muscle group at once. If you have any more questions. feel free to PM me or post in this thread.

One more thing, should I do those 3 days of training, M,T,W, then take the rest of the week off until next Mon?

Assuming that the majority of the 8 pounds is muscle;

8 lbs in 2 months = 1 lbs per week = 52 lbs in 1 year.

Youre doing just fine. Dont expect too much too soon. Keep pluggin away. You'll get there. Patience.

Ah, well I guess its not that bad if you put it that way. I just look at my 8 pounds and think wow, another 10-12 years I can be as big as that guy! And yea I've gained pretty much no fat as far as I can tell. The most visible and amazing change in any muscle I've seen since I've started working out a few months ago is my lats, they must be like 5 times the size they are as day one, I actually have a V shape now!

You could do that, but I would spread it out more, like M W F. It gives your boday a little rest between workouts. Good luck!
