Turkey sausage - Saturday, February 28, 2009 6:19 PM ( #1 )
Has anyone tried Turkey sausage? I recently picked up a pound of Turkey breakfast sausage out at Wal Mart and the stuff is very good, plus, lower fat and higher protein than pork and taste great. Unwrap the whole roll and add a couple of tablespoons of crushed red pepper (more or less according to your taste) and the stuff is even better. They use to carry link sausage as well that was very good but don’t seem to have that anymore.

The sausage is pretty good I made some jambalaya, replacing ground beef with turkey sausage. Pretty good stuff, I've also used ground turkey in it before too

Yes, the bacon is not that hot, not real bad but not real good either. The sausage is great though.

Bulking, I bet it would work great in jambalaya.

jambalaya

Been a while since I had jambalaya might have to make some next weekend. I have some ground deer in the freezer and guess I could use that as well. Last weekend I made deer vegetable soup. Deer makes the best soup.

I've done that as well and it is excellent. Have also used the ground Turkey for BBQ. Ground deer also works great for chili, soup, BBQ and just about anything you'd use ground beef in.

I only use ground turkey meat for most things. I can't remember the last time i had real ground beef, like a hamburger for instance.

Hey, whatever, its healthier and still tastes good with some olive oil.

I eat very little beef these days.  And hardly any pork at all.  Ground turkey or venison, turkey and chicken sausage, and turkey bacon all taste freakin' great.

The Turkey bacon has not been real hot, not all bad but not that great either. The best Turkey bacon I have found is from Aldi's and it seems like it is only 1 gram less fat than regular fat, but it is healthier fat. It does make a good BLT.
