Tribulus / Testosterone boosters - 9/7/2006 9:48:35 AM

I posted this a little earlier and didnt get too much helpful info

So, I am 18 years old and have been seriously working out (seriously meaning 4 days per week, and using Protein powder, multivitamins, and creatine) for about 2 months. I am confident in the workouts that I do because I have recieved lots of help with form. But recently I had my testosterone levels checked and mine was at 328. This is the lower end of healthy and I decided that since testosterone peaks at around age 20, mine wont be getting too much higer than it is now. I know I can still gain muscle mass with low testosterone but it seems like an unfair disadvantage (trying to build muscle with insufficient amounts of the muscle growth hormone), as a result I began taking Androtest and 6-Oxo a few days ago. Is there anything wrong with this?

Yes, I got a blood test and a few days later they gave my number. I knw that the heathly range is something like 300-1000 (for men) and that at 20 testosterone more or less stops going up. While 328 is not a huge problem, it will mean that my results will be much slower than they need to be (I am not expecting easy results, I just want to even the genetic playing field). Btw this test is very recent. I got the results a week ago.

The way I look at it, my testosterone is too low to just leave it alone. Plus 6-Oxo and Androtest say for 18 and up. If you know another way to boost testosterone (without directly putting taking testosterone / steroids, I wont ever do that.) then let me know.

I'm having great results with 17-HD... I've put on 5lbs of solid mass in 2 and a half weeks and at the same time it's been shredding the fat off of my body.

There is more then this then just boosting test... andro= PH, 6-oxo = anti estrogen. Lets see proper deit, focus on deadlifting, squats and benching. Do heavy compound lifting... that will boost your test.

Coulaid. My diet is fine, I already do squats, I do flat and incline bench too. I am not looking for some easy way to gain mass, I am looking to fix a problem that will hurt my progress for the rest of my life.

Thats why I posted this, I dont know all the risks yet. And I would like to weigh them against the benefits. I think this is the safest way to significantly boost Testosterone levels. Lifting will boost my testosterone, but that can only help so much. Plus what I am thinking is that using Tribulus (an herb) to encourage my body to make more testosterone is probably ten times safer than shooting up some synthetic testosterone or steroid. If I am way off base then let me know, I really am just looking for some good information. But 328 is an unacceptable number and I need to get it to at least 500- maybe 650ish.

Still - your 328 level is not at the bottom end of the scale. It is on the lower end but definitly not off base. The average range is 241-827. 1000 or more and you start edging on too much T which is no good either. Question for you...have you been checked for glucose intolerance or are you a diabetic? That's just one possibility for the lower level but there are literally hundreds or reasons including stress. What I would suggest is Tribulus supplementation. Trib works by increasing your production of luetinizing hormone (LH) which is then converted into testosterone. You need to cycle three on and one off though. After you have been on a couple of cycles go get your levels checked again. It should help.

Hormone balance and production is very responsive to lifestyle changes, in fact to a large extent it is dictated by lifestyle.  For instance a low fat diet is not supportive of hormone production.

Free testosterone is as important as total...but you probably don't know that number...

More important is ---> are you seeing gains on a weekly basis of 1-2 pounds of muscle.

I don't see anything in androtest that has clinical data to support raising test.

6-oxo is an estrogen "suicide" inhibitor...you may see your total and free test rise for a bit...but it will fall later.

6-oxo is a banned substance in some tested sports circles so check with your org if you are involved.

Other things that help boost test are

1. Performing short, high intensity workouts lasting only 20-40 minutes.
2. Double splitting your weight training. Do two short sessions (i.e. chest in the morning and triceps in the evening) lasting about 30 to 40 minutes each instead of one long workout.
3. Progressively increasing workout intensity, but not duration.
4. Allowing sufficient recovery time between workouts (do not lift more than two days in a row).
5. Getting eight hours of sound, uninterrupted sleep (or whatever amount you've found keeps you rested and recovered).
6. Taking a 30-60 minute nap whenever possible.
7. Using basic, multi-joint exercises like Squats, deadlifts and rows. A 20-rep squat cycle will release growth hormone naturally and get you growing like no supplements ever will.
8. Keeping alcohol intake to a minimum or not drinking at all.
9 Avoiding refined sugars. Focusing on natural starchy and fibrous carbohydrates.
10. Consuming lean proteins at frequent intervals throughout the day.
11. Getting adequate amounts of the "good fats."
12. Getting lean and stay lean.
13. Avoiding stress and relaxing.
14. Avoiding overtraining

Other anit-anabolic events to avoid:
Over cooking food
Eating too fast
Missing Meals
Over Eating
Not drinking enough water
Not getting ENOUGH protein
Not getting ENOUGH calories
Drinking Alcohol
Too much caffeine
Taking Saw Palmetto when you are not at risk of BPH
Training TOO LITTLE! (1x per bodypart per week does not take advantage of more frequent hormonal "work - recovery" cycles)
Doing low intensity cardio
Never lifting Heavy
