Training for wrestling.

I've started lifting to get ready for wrestling when it starts in october, but my question is how much strength gain is really possible without putting on much weight? This is going to be my first year wrestling, and i have no experiance or much strength. I find it odd that i weight 135, yet i struggle to bench press 80 pounds, but i seem just as strong as my friends who can do 120-150. What i mean by that is, if we're playing a phsyicle sport, or just arm wrestling, i usually always win. How is that possible? And how important is strength to wrestling? Should i really be worrying about how much i can bench press? What about the last bit of fat on my stomach i cant seem to get rid of, is any of this going to considerably put me at a handicap during wrestling?

I think a strong back, forearms/grip and legs are best for wrestling. I dont think chest matters much.

You may be stronger, just straight up...But if you are also new to lifting like you are to wrestling, then they might be able to lift more then you right now because you are new to it...There is some techniques to lifting and it takes knowledge and good form, eventually you'll learn it more and more and get better and be able to lift as much or more hten them.

Arm wrestling is not an indicator for strength. Hell, I can bench 200 and I still can't win a match. This may be too late now, cuz season already started, but all you need are legs, back, and forearms. The legs are for the shooting, the back is for lifting your opponent, and the forearms are for the locks. Biceps, tris, aren't really important. However, big ones will intimidate your opponents.

Work on your Balance. Ive been in Ju Jutsu for 6 years now and I tell you what, I used to get beaten by guys smaller than me just becuase of their immaculate balance. Ive got superb balance now and it pays..
MMA Training is intense. But these give me all i need: Mass Stack Syntha-6 Diet Weight: 170 Max Bench: 205 Max Squat: 280 Max Deadlift: 400 "Theres a difference between being Big and Buff and being Strong and Agile"

im a new wrestler and i also play football. i have noticed this year espicially that there are two types of strngth. there is weight lifting strength and then there is pure strength. i can bench 265 as a linebacker but a lineman that benches 195 kicks my ass on boards everytime. also my coach who weighes around 165 and benchs 225 is so much stronger than me when we wrestle just build your weightlifting strength up and you should be strong as ****
