Training? / Supplements? / NEWBIE! - Monday, January 26, 2009 9:35 PM ( #1 )
Hey,
Im really sorry if im posting this in the wrong spot,
but here goes nothing.

Im 16,
I weigh 119 pounds.
I have been lifting for about 3 months (not very seriously)
I feel I am procrastinating because im not sure what lifts to do,
Im not sure what kind of routine / schedule i should set up.
Im one of those people who kind of "need to be told" what to do.
Im mainly looking for strength, but mass is good to.
I just need to get going with an intense program.
Im willing to put in the hard work.

I am currently using Cytogainer, BSN Cell Mass (ethyl ester creatine), and I have been considering trying NO XPLODE.

I would say my diet is pretty balanced.
I usually start breakfast off with 3-4 bowls of cereal, or a bowl of 3 packets of oatmeal.
Lunch is a meat, cheese, and mayo sandwhich on hoagie rolls. Usually Along with yogurt, nuts, other snacks...
Dinner is always a dish made by my mom or dad whether it be spaghetti, steak, ribs etc... it usually involves meat, potatoes, veggi's and fruit.

As far as cardio / fitness goes, i have wrestling practice for about 3 hours everyday.
I feel like i should start running though too?

If you have any advice for me
or any good routines / lifting programs to reccomend to me,
please let me know.

Thanks again for any help,
Moe

That is nowhere near being enough food, no wonder you are under 120lbs.  Start eating some food and look at some beginner routines mentioned on this site.  Do a search and you will find what you need.
Bench- 315 Squat- 345 Dead-  515

Total- 1175

I absolutely cannot wait for wrestling to be over so I can eat like that.
As for now though coach wants me to go to 112.

if your wrestling practices were anything like mine i wouldnt even be touching weights during the season.  my coach discouraged lifting during season.  he had us lift a lot during the football season...if you werent doing any other sport.  after the season look into a starting strength routine.  do a lot of barbell compound lifts.  do power cleans especially for your explosiveness and bent over bb rows for your takedowns and pulls.  are you a leg wrestler?  do squats.  and when i say squats do FULL squats, all way down and up.

like chalky said there is a lot of routines to look at on this site.  good luck and welcome.

Thanks,
Im not sure when exactly it was you were wrestling, but the theory of not lifting during the season is now frowned upon. Or maybe just on my team? ha but thanks. The bb rows and power cleans and other lifts are really good advice. Thanks.

The bent over BB rows are just bending your body over (45deg. angle) and pulling the barbell up to your chest... correct?

If you are wrestler why are you taking weight gain supps?

honestly i wldnt start liftin until the season is over, wrestling is already overtraining your muscles, it will be very hard to gain muscle during the season.
lol dont use cytogainer or cell mass befoe bed, use cyto gainer after you lift or for breakfast when you don't have enough time to make somthing (thats what i do)
Drink a couple glasses of milk before bed along with some cheese (i prefer cottage) and some peanutbutter.
follow directions on cell mass not sure if its post or pre but im guessing pre.

and for a routine, try Bill starr's 5x5 program or Ripptoe's starting strength
just googgle both, they both are great for beginners
Supps:Animal Pak, NO shotgun, Whey

Bench 1RM:210
Squat 1RM:300
Deadlift 3RM:375
Arm Size:14.5 IN
Phase:Bulking

he did say thats a rough draft for when the season is over.

--yes the starting strength is great for beginners.  i recommend it.  when i was taking cytogainer i had my serving an hour before the workout and another after.  the milk and cottage cheese is great.  the cottage cheese is a slow release protien which is good to have while you sleep.  if you dont like cottage cheese your just plain wierd LOL jk, you can get some casien protien.  your diet looks good.  better than mine =D.  i can eat and eat and eat though and wont put on any weight LOL.  sorry i havnt checked back on this topic.

Hey kubla,
Quick question...
Will muscle groups such as arms, abs, and shoulders, and back be getting worked enough in the starting strength program.

My main concern is arms?
it doesnt seem like they are incorparated very much except for tri's on bench.
and same with abs, with deadlifts.
