Torn ACL and injured PCL Experience - Wednesday, September 03, 2008 8:47 PM ( #1 )
Three years ago, I underwent a torn ACL surgery (an injury which happened another 3 years ago). I then went through 6 months of rehab to fully recover my knee. To break through the 'tightness' which was there after the surgery, I did full bodyweight squats. Full meaning my ass is just a couple centimetres off the floor. This helped to stretch my newly reconstructed ligaments to be more flexible. After that, I slowly increased from bodyweight squats up to a significant amount of weight my knee can handle today.

Last year I played rugby and affected the PCL of the same left knee. Just when I was about to get my squat numbers up, it happened. PCL, being a ligament at the back side of the knee, was rehabilitated differently. Although this time, my PCL wasn't torn, around 20% of it was removed. After healing, which took around 3-4 months, my squat weights had to start all over again from nil. This time, leg curls were also a pain...

Starting from scratch once again, I'm recovering from the knee injury pretty well right now...
It's times like these, you learn to live again...
