Okay, first of all I have to admit, I've never actually used one of these things. I have heard all kinds of negative stuff about them- But that's all second hand, so it really means nothing. What I can tell you is this- The purpose of these things seems to be so the average person can get those nice toned abs- This can't be true. The only way to get nice abs is to exercise them so you actually have some abs- Let's say for argument's sake that these things can in fact do that- The next step in seeing those abs is to get rid of the layer of fat that's covering them up. There is no gizmo out there that can spot reduce fat from your body- That is, take fat off one particular target area. The only way to lose fat is to do it overall, and the only real way to do that is through proper nutrition and exercise, including cardio. Don't feel bad for not knowing whether they work or not, we're constantly blasted by ads on TV for all kinds of ab building machines- Hell, I have plenty of friends who have owned one or two such machines for years now. These friends still have no defined abs, and those machines have become nothing more than brightly colored dust magnets. Sadly, there's no "easy" way out. Nutrition and exercise are still the only way to get yourself in shape.

Thanks for your quick reply. I only wanted to use them after reading this http://www.fitnessinfomercialreview.com/rioabbelt.htm mainly positive reviews. For £40 it sounded good. Its sopposed to send eletrical impulses to your abs by the way... i've been getting mixed opinions...

I think it's a waste. However, what you could do is get one with a 30 day money back guarantee. And try it. Don't do any ab exercises during this month. Because if you do, how do you know if it's the belt or the routine? Personally, save your money, and use a decline bench with a 10 lb weight. There's just not enough of an impulse to make a difference. Put it this way.. sit in your chair.. slightly.. oh so slightly contract and release your abs. Quickly. But lightly. Because that's all a 1.5 volt battery is gonna do. Do this for 1 hour? Do you feel tired? Probably. Will your abs be stronger? Don't think so. But you will feel them and you will think so. Or you could go into the gym.. decline bench.. 10 lb weight.. 3 sets of 25-50 reps. You will generate more of an electrical impulse from that in 10 minutes then you ever will from 1 hour of using that belt. If you really want to do it though.. just make sure you keep all the boxes, documentation and ask about the money back guarantee BEFORE you buy it. So if it doesn't work, you can quickly return it within 30 days no problems. Then you come back to DB and tell us. This is a great question because I'm sure many many people have thought about buying one and want to know if it works.

I have "played" with one of these wastes of money before. Really all they do is force you to flex the muscle group that you put it closest to. So your basically paying to do calisthenics. You can flex your abs all day long and I promise that you will not have a six pack. A friend of mine at school had bought one of these which he took apart and we put the electrical things (sorry but Im not an electrician) on our arms and stuff (Read: other people) and it was pretty fun, but unless your going to do that, save your money.

Im trying press ups, sit ups, and punching bags(Im using pillows insted :D ) I will definatly come back to the forum and tell you guys what i have experinced, probley write a review. also its 9 volts. My arms still hert from yestodays punching, just about to do some more. By the way im like 15, so maybe these belt things will work better on me..
