Ok so I've been sitting around trying to decide on which college I want to go to and what I want to do and all that. Looking at either OU or OSU (whichever will cost me the less/pay me the most) and possibly med school. Well I'm sittin around today, and realized that awhile back I was giving serious consideration to a military academy. So I hopped online and started filling out an app. to the USNA and I realized that because of my back it is likely that I can't be accepted anyways, and it is probably to late to apply to something like this now. Should I go ahead and pursue it a little ways and see what happens or just keep it simple between OU and OSU? Anyone with military experience have advice?...

Also, if I end up at OSU or OU (which are in my home state) I plan on transferring out after 2 years at the most and heading to probably the east coast, but I'm not sure where yet.

I actually ran into an Army recruiter today that use to stalk me lol. He was telling me how he felt bad that my back was holding me back because I took some test for him and he said I could, "Literally probably have any job I wanted in the military." I realize as a recruiter he is supposed to be telling me that but he said my score was very good. Not sure what the test was but I made a 95 on it. Anyways, I asked him about military academies and he said he would ask around about maybe the USNA and talk to a few marines he's in contact with and see if the physical restrictions still wouldn't let me in...so I guess I'll find something out either way.

Funny story, I actually decided the school I wanted to go to and the major I wanted to pursue one night when I ate some magic mushrooms with my friends, and have stuck with it to this day. I wouldn't suggest the same for you tho haha.

If you're a junior you're pretty much too late to be applying to acadamies. You really have to start that your sophmore year prepping and meeting with senators and whatnot. Applying to the academies takes more work than Harvard. You have to really really really want it and be at the top of your class with amazing test scores, recommendations, leadership and PT. Not trying to shoot you down if this is your dream. But make sure you really really want it more than anything or don't go through the trouble.

Hey, Being from Oklahoma and also in the military...I would recommend just going to schools like state colleges. If you were in the military I would say differently. Maybe the recruiter will have more input as far as that goes. From experience, I have 2 herniated lower discs in my back. I can still pass all the PT scores with over 100%. So if you do follow the military school path, i would take the test. all you could do is fail right? LOL Later
