A little historical overview:

So, I have been weightlifting for a year and a half now, on and off. At first i was all hyped
because I was all skinny (weighing in only at 141 lbs @ 6'0) and gained some 25 pounds without virtually any fat (it wasn't all muscle tho, as i grew 2 inches or something). But I was strongly discouraged when my strength gains stopped for a while and i didn't train properly for along time.  I somehow got the idea that i was a somekind of a superecto and that i would never gain any fat. Over the winter i really went overboard with a really unclean diet and went skinny fat. I got to the point where i was 189 pounds with way too much fat. Managed to lose it during the summer though, now I am at 178 with bodyfat that i can live with, but I am still skinny.

Overall plan:
I'm going to come up with and post a clean bulking diet, get a good routine going and track my process in this thread. I want to get serious for a change.

Training:
I'm hoping that you guys will provide me with a nice routine (3-4 day low rep count split with all the compound movements and whatnot). I have to improve my form on many exercises, especially abs, I have this problem that when I am trying to train abs, I end up using my back for some reason, maybe focusing more on the movement would do the trick.
I am thinking of also doing cardio twice a week (running) to have some cardiovascular endurance.

Goals:
Gain as much muscle during the winter, and cut before the summer. I have a really superficial goal of having nice abs next summer, because I never had them in my life.

Problems to overcome:
1) Coping with the diet and college - seems manageable.
2) My addiction to coke (not the drug, smarty pants), for the better part of my life I have been drinking like 2 liters of coke a day. Unfortunately, there is no coke-zero where i live, so i'll have to give it up/have it as a cheat thingy(stupid HFCS) and i absolutely love the taste.
I am going to have to switch to water.

Any suggestion/bit of criticism is appreciated.

thats cool, your goals are similar to mine...differnet background but same current goals.

i would recommend starting a training program built on either full body split or upper/lower, 3-4 days. im doing an upper/lower 2 on, one off, 2 on, then weeknds off and its been good. you can check my journal if you want for more specifics on what im doing.

college can be somehwat challenging to eat clean at, but it can be done. i basically pack all my meals and bring them in my backpack around all day, since im gone most of the day. just think ahead and always have food on you.

where do u go to college by the way, and what are your current stats, stremgth and size wise?...youll probably want to note them so you can watch improvements

I'm thinking that I should cut for a month or two before embarking on a long clean bulking phase (which should last till summer).
So, any ideas how i should go about this? I currently weigh 179 lbs, using a quick calculation (BWx13) i got 2330 calories for losing weight (about 400calories less than what i'm eating atm). Dunno, if is this sufficent?  So:  50% carbs, 25% protein, 25% fat?
As for training, I'm not sure what I should change. Should I do HIIT?
