Yeah right some impressive figures there - I've been away all weekend in London and got real drunk so there was literally zero diet over the weekend but as a weight lifter I can tell those figures are particularly impressive because...

DB Bench- 110'sx9/110'sx7/110'sx6/115'sx5 -
After doing that my strength would be zero.

And then you do the rest.

Yea thats how i was taught to train by my weightlifting "mentor", get the heavy lifting out of the way first. Ya know go big or go home, lol.
As far as my stats i dont really have any measurements except for height and weight, Im about 5'11 and 238 as of last night after my workout. Not exactly lean either, but its ok cuz its winter and i can cover it up, so i dont mind sacrificing some fat gain, while bulking since i can cover it with layers of clothes lol.

Hm lets see now back to some numbers, this morning for breakfast, ham and turkey sandwich, and a nutrigrain bar. Mimorning snack at work will be six star milkshake.
For lunch i will have 1 can of Hormel Turkey Chili, no beans.

You're very lucky - I went to do military presses today , chucked 72.5 kg on the bar did 8 steady reps then went onto the next set did 3 reps felt a tear and the workout was finished. Put me in a horrible mood for the whole day.

Dang man that sucks, hope that gets better.

So last nights workout went pretty well, dont remember the numbers exactly on all sets but it was something like this:

Bent Over BB rows--wu-bar/135x10/185x10/185x9/195x7
Lat Pulldowns—WU-110/160x10/170x8/180x8
Decided to not do deads still wasn’t ready to risk my knee so I did 1 arm DB rows instead
DB Rows- WU-50’s/70’sx10/75’sx9/75’sx9/80’sx7
1 arm Preacher Curls- WU-15’s/25’sx10/25’sx10/25’sx9/30’sx8
Hammer Curls 35’sx10/40’sx9/40’sx8
With my hammers I supersetted with some additional forearm work.
Chins  BWx10 BWx7
Immediately after the workout I slammed down a waxy maize/ protein/ BCAA shake.

That was the workout, everything felt good. I’m glad I decided to lay off the deads, my knee is still a little sore and “iffy”.
Today (Wednesday) is my off day so I’m just taking in the calories, and might go do some HIIT cardio tonight at the gym for about 15 minutes.

Re:Time to layer on some winter muscle - Wednesday, November 19, 2008 5:58 AM ( #11 )
that sucks man that you cant do deadlifts because of your knee.  what did you do? deads are my favorite.  yesterday on my first set, first rep i scraped my shins LOL.  pissed me off though cause now i got two skid marks on my shins that are gonna scab and look funny.  i'll wear knee socks next week and be "that" guy in the gym with the funny outfit on LOL.

oh and the last time i was in the 200s i was about 218 pounds and that was when i was lifting in iraq back in 2003-04.  i lifted for a good solid 6 months like 6 days a week.  i had a couple great workout partners there that was as lazy as i was so we were in the gym all the time.  i was liftin so much back then. plus i was on the original animal stak which is freakin AWSOME and i wish it would be legal again. oh well lol.  after i got home, got back into the workin 5days a week and married life and didnt make it to the gym as much to not at all and lost all my weight lol.  i've talked to my wife and we are going to get a family pass at the gym when i get home.  its gonna be awsome to workout in a real gym again.  hell, i might even get into yoga lol

Re:Time to layer on some winter muscle - Thursday, November 20, 2008 11:30 AM ( #12 )
WEll today work sucked, boss was bustin my balls about EVERYTHING.
So ready to hit the gym after i do some homework
Here's my originally schedulled workout
Squats - 8-10 Reps x4
Lunges - 8-10 Reps x3
Hack Squats - 8-10 Reps x3
Stiff Legged Deadlifts - 8-10 Reps x4
Weighted Single Leg Calf Raise - 8-10 Reps x3

however i am cutting out the squats this week as im still uncertain on the status of my knee and dont want to risk it. ill prolly just stick to some hammy and calf work.
Diet has been pretty solid today so far
Breakfast: 1 can of Hormel turkey chili and a nutrigrain bar totalling about 480 cals
Snack: six star muscle building milk shake and a nutrigrain bar: about 420 cals
Lunch canned chicken and 1 cup of long grain and brown rice and 1 cup skim milk about 500 cals

ill be back in a bit with some workout numbers.

Re:Time to layer on some winter muscle - Friday, November 21, 2008 11:38 AM ( #14 )
yes it sucks hardcore lol. I did do squats but i only went about 50 percent. In fact the whole leg workout pretty much blew. My knee still isnt feeling right so i decided to treat the workout as more of a therapy session for my knee. Mainly just did some light squats with bout 225, did some leg ext's, lunges and Straight leg deads.

Anywho, todays workout should go better, no lower body involved lol
Shoulders and traps are on the menu,
Friday
EXERCISE
Military Press - 8-10 Reps x4
Lateral Raises - 8-10 Reps x3
Bent Over Lateral Raises - 8-10 Reps x3
Upright Rows - 8-10 Reps x3
Shrugs - 8-10 Reps x4
alot of stretching will follow, mainly the legs.
Then its off to a night on the town.

Anyways about the stack, its 3 supps by kilo sports, good stuff. Some of their older stuff that my mentor bought in bulk and still has left over
ill get the names in a bit

Do you find you get a serious delayed onset of muscle soreness after leg day? I get it terribly - Literally just to press down on the quad with a finger is painful. I can barely walk at all and if I do I look disabled because I have to walk with straight legs but I park in the disabled parking bay at work if it's that bad - Anyone who sees me getting out the car will fall for it.

Re:Time to layer on some winter muscle - Wednesday, January 28, 2009 7:20 PM ( #18 )
well its been a while since ive been on here, and my first attempt at a journal didnt go so well, so im gona give this another shot.
I recently joined a different gym, old one wasnt cutting it, and i needed a change so we'll see how that goes.
Anyway, after work today went to the gym downed some NO and Green mag when i got there and then i got down to business. Did shoulders and traps today. Workout went pretty well, not quite the intensity i was looking for but im working my way back into it. After lifting i hit up some cardio for 45 minutes.
Oh,  by the way the winter muscle thing is over, diet got sloppy and i overshot my target weight, and not in a good way. So now im cutting, ill get some pics up later.
Diet was clean today, got up had a protein bar( i was in a rush and it was 5:30 am) around 9 had some chicken and green beans at work, then at 12 the same thing. hit the gym around 1:30 and was out by three, after the cardio i downed about 50 grams of protein and some more green mag. 5:45 pm, had some deli turkey and chicken with some veggies. Around 8:45 had some more veggies(celery) and a protein shake, i know weird combo. anywho i think the first day went well and am looking forward to day 2.

yea im still doin the waxy maize, not dark matter tho its just straight up waxy maize blended in with my protein now.
After takin the weekend off to recuperate, and watch the superbowl, i hit the weights again today doin chest, workout was great, very productive, i stayed in the 8-10 rep range and cut down to no more than 45 sec rest between sets.
after liftin i did 46 minutes of cardio, and as far as my diet goes today has been pretty clean so im proud of myself

well after takin the day off yesterday, i was back in the gym today.
Today was back day with a couple shoulder and bi exercises mixed in. Workout wen really well, very intense. Afterwards i hit up some cardio for about 47 minutes, good pace good intensity, and finally i feel like im gettin back into pretty good shape aerobically speaking.
On the other hand, ive been cuttin for a couple weeks now and im just not seeing what i want to, kinda startin to get unmotivated.
so, to anyone who reads this, feel free to input some of the techniques you used to keep you motivated.
Thanks all

dont expect immediate results dude!!  that can really unmotivate someone.  are you weighing yourself?? ditch the scale, or just weigh yourself every two weeks.  dont do it everyday.  i blast my ipod in my room before the gym and do a little two-steppin' before i go to the gym.  that gets me motivated!  thinking of squating 500lbs motivates me as well!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Re:Time to layer on some winter muscle - Friday, February 06, 2009 4:58 PM ( #28 )
nah i havent been weighing myself, i go strictly by what i see in the mirror.
I know the results wont come "overnight" but it just seems like in the past when i cut i would be seeing some change in definition by now, ya know?
i always listen to music, its more of a short term motivator, im kinda lookin for a long term lasting motivator, usually when im liftin or doin cardio i carry around a flex mag with me, just lookin at the pics reminds me of what im wanting to achieve. lately tho its been kinda wearin off lol.
anywho, thanks for the reply kub.

Aight now to todays workout,
Did legs and a couple chest exercises, it was a good workout for the most part.
I went pretty light on pretty much all the leg stuff due to a re-occurring knee injury, also stayed away from squats today, for the same reason.
after liftin i hit up some hiit cardio. I did the hiit today cuz my legs just cant take the long drawn out cardio on leg day.
All in all it was a very productive day.
As far as diet goes, today was my low low carb day, im talking less than 50 grams. 2maro will be my high day, to keep my body confused and metabolism up.
