You wobble because: 1- You aren't used to it 2- Too much weight? 3- Stabilizers aren't ready to handle it and they are adjusting All the more reason to do it free stance. When you do the Smith, you simply don't have to use as much "full" body. What balance do you do? None. You go up and down. There's no balancing, and no stabilizers involved.
