There are two main kinds of test boosters, herbal ones and anti estrogens. Anti estrogens are usually steroidal (thought they shouldn't be anabolic in themselves) and they increase natural testosterone by lowering estrogen levels. Take novedex xt for example, the main ingredient is atd which is suicidal aromatase inhibitor. Estrogen in males is made from aromatization of testosterone so when you block this process, estrogen levels go down. This cause the "negative feedback loop", or to put it simply your body sees that it needs more estrogen so it bumps up test production in an attempt to create more from aromatization. However the test only goes up to a maximum of about 1400ng/dl which is about 1.5x the normal maximum baseline range. This is in contrast to steroid users who will usually see 4000-5000ng/dl during a cycle. So you see it's still not going to give you huge gains. 6-oxo and a bunch of other test boosters work this way. The sides with atd based test boosters in my experience are acne, and totally abolished libido. Like I said gains are pretty minor, some strength boost, not really worth it to use the stuff as a standalone. My favorite ai is formastane, but you can't get the stuff anymore. The other kind is herbal test boosters. It's hard to explain the exact mechanism of action since this stuff is not tested. Tribulus is mostly worthless. The best one is my opinion is nettle root, preferably extracted for divanil. Go to any vitamin store and get some nettle root if you want to try that, it's not too expensive. All in all, though test boosters aren't very usefull, just because you can only produce so much test naturally and to make use of the relatively small boost even the strongest test boosters give you would take a couple of months which would be cost prohibitive.
