no, I don't compete..but sometimes I like to go ultra dark..competition tanners can be d-e-c-e-n-t although if its the same stuff they use in muscle and fitness magazine I wont touch the stuff..(they are so orange!) I've seen a few competitors who get brown..and a few of my friends are incredible bodybuilders..trying to encourage them to strut their stuff on stage..so this stuff is good to know..

white? Whats that? I dont remember being white (I am a recovering tanaholic)

3DAYS2GLORY: A professional spray lasts about four days. The applicatator tan (brush on or self spray) lasts about the same. But remember it takes several applications to get as dark as you want. Dream Tan is mainly for competitions. It's messy, never fully dries and washes off in the shower with mild soap and a little baby oil. But for a quick tan, just before the competition, it's the best. You rub it on lightly and then dab it in to blend with the skin color. It has its own oil base with a little glitter in it to pick up the lights without making you look too oily. I just came back from a professional spray. So this week, I went to the tanning beds twice and was sprayed once. The color is diffinately not yellow. I'm dark brown to bronze. I'm doing a practice posing session tomorrow, followed by a photo session to record my eight-weeks to go physique. I'll post a few of the spray tan shots on Monday. Regards, Old Navy

yea I have a lot of tanaholic friends lol. I'm just worried about them looking old too young and the heightened risk for skin cancer is frightening. stay safe!

no worries xmax I'm pretty white myself but I think it looks kind of weird to be tan in the winter anyways, b/c it's obviously fake, at least up north.lol

no..if its your first time, you wont see anything..give it about 2 or three sessions before you see a base..

They usually say dont tan consecutive days..but I've done it..I just dont constantly do it..damage accumulates over time

You def. dont want to see red..you should be able to go tomorrow if you're not red..but the salons usually advise you to wait every other day to build your base.

**wait.. half an hour your first time! WOW** you def. can go tomorrow if you were able to handle that without a burn. just dont make a habit of going every single day..I'd suggest cutting it down to 15-20 mins tomorrow.

WOW! Must be nice! I was going to purchase a bed a few years back, but I figured knowing myself I'd be in it everyday..

you have one in your building, or your actual home..

whats the electricity bill like..must be thru the roof..

all I remember is needing to get buck boosters and blah blah blah too much work..I just go to the salon.

But you have a bed of your own..hmm..what is this foreign emotion I feel?? could it be..envy??

If you can tan for 30 minutes the first time, you are superhuman or something. I tan easy and i started off with 8 minutes, every 3 times i would go up by 2 minutes. You are looking at skin cancer, or a real bad burn if you go that long.

RE: Tanning - Sunday, February 06, 2005 12:15 AM ( #53 )
I know thats some SERIOUSLY tough skin! I get INSANELY dark:

AND I'm half asian, which means I can tan QUICK and easy..but I NEVER got a dark tan first session..and if I went in bare white....for 30 MINS?!?! you'd better call the fire department to put me out..I'd be burned to a crisp..and I NEVER burn....

that is some SERIOUSLY TOUGH ASS skin you have there, Andy!

I agree that you should monitor your times and maybe decrease the duration just to play it safe..as dark as I am in the above pic, I NEVER go above 16 mins..unless I *really* need to..in which case I max out at 20 mins.

I'll be 23 on tuesday and already can see the start of crows feet when I smile..b/c I used to tan everyday when I was 17, 18, and weekly (multiple times into my 20's)..it really sped up the aging process which is why I showed down..who needs wrinkles in thier 20's, right? It will also dry out your skin eventually if you go overboard. Scary thing about tanning is if you overdo it, you dont see the damage for YEARS..so you think you're immune..

tanning is addictive, but play safe

yea. you won't see the harmful effects of over-tanning for years later, and much of the time, it's too late to reverse them. so please be careful.
ps. 3DAYS2GLORY you gonna kill someone posting pics like that.

Yes you are. haha.

And I'm puerto rican (couldn't tell from the name eh?) and I stay tan. If I go to tan, one session is quite noticable. But I doubt if even I could handle all that.

white spots can be from a bunch of things..

if they are accentuated after using a tingle, then for sure its certain areas of your skin which are not producing sufficient melanin.

If it happens with whatever product you use it could be caused by a fungus..there are lotions out there to correct it, like X by I think California Tan..

if you get white spots on the skin above your coccyx (tailbone) or the back of your shoulders..it's because you are blocking blood flow (needed to tan) by pressurizing these points while laying on the bed. Flip over every few minutes, or just lay on your stomach if you can take it..or even better use a standup bed.
