I don't take creatine unless I have done strenuous work, and will do it again. Creatine is like a fuel additive, it will accumulate if you keep adding without burning it off, and adding more does not mean it will work better. If you are taking one day off it won't matter what you do, but if you are taking 2 or more days of, you will still have creatine storage from before that was not burnt off and therefore will not need to add any more until you are going to workout again. My 2 cents...

I've started getting rather nice headches on creatine lately. Probably because I've been necking around 50 grams a day though.

Since creatine is a cheap and safe supplement, most people probably tend to take more than they need. Unless you're taking 50 grams a day like Adam (why the hell??), there should be no harm in overdoing it a little. I'm not aware of any evidence that suggests otherwise. A lot of people choose to take only one 3-8g serving a day rather than the typical two.
