Tabata Routines - Monday, November 12, 2007 6:41 AM
Just wondering if anyone here has had any success with fat loss doing,

Tabata Squats
Tabata Chinups
Tabata Pushups
Tabata Thrusters
etc.

If you have a routine that you've done and had good success with it, please post..

As of right now I'm thinking of only doing it on Tuesdays and Thursdays.. starting simple and only doing Tabata Squats and Thrusters 20/10 X's 4, for a total of 8 minutes.. any feedback?

What's the rest time after 4 intervals? I'd say go for it and see what you can do. Tabata can be incredibly intense. Most people need to take twice the work time as rest time, doing a 20/40 x 3-4.

I think I have done this before or something similiar (I still do).
20-30secs/ rest 15 and we did this like 3-4 times.

It has helped me lose fat. get more toned.

The ex we used were:
squats w. dumbells
squat hops
lunges
jumping lunges
burpees
jump rope
push ups
mountain climbers
thrusters
sprints
other ex using weights, medicine balls, other people's weight like piggy back rides (those are fun but real hard).

I think I'll start off slow only doing two, 4 minute sets.. In the orginal post I listed it incorrectly... It should have been 20 seconds intense, 10 seconds rest, for a total of 8, 30 second sets totaling 4 minutes per exercises.. I'll only be doing two.. squats and Thrusters to start.. if I can do those two.. and make it through 8 minutes.. without having a heart attack.. I'll add another each workout until I can complete 6 exercises per session.... for a total of 24 minutes 2-3X's weekly... Wish me luck

So after googleing tabata, this is a method that is basically employes gurilla cardio timing, with lightly weighted calastenics, for a horrifyingly hard cardio work out?

I think I might be giving this a shot, I am sooo sick of jumping rope, and running in my neighborhood, is really not wise.

that's kinda my reasoning for doing it... Hate jumping rope... hate treadmills, too cold to run outside. so, I'll be inflicting this torturous routine on myself..

From what I've read.. it's suppose to be one of the most efficient ways to burn fat without eating muscle.... Actually I didn't think that was possible.. but we'lll see..

I did it 3 days a week for a while and did get some good results.... I still do it, just not on a set schedule.. and yea.. it's pretty tough..  Unless you just have real good cardio.. I would suggest starting off with one or two exercises.. 2-3 times weekly..

Why limit yourself to Tabata? Add 2 crossfit workouts to your routine and it will work great. Just make sure you choose the right routines.

I am planning on starting with single exercise 2-3 times a week for now. I am trying to decide between burpees and thrusters...
