TP-PT and Recovery - Tuesday, May 25, 2004 4:18 PM ( #1 )
Since I'm going into week four of TP-PT I can provide some insight into recovery and impacts to us mature individuals.

Since I didn't have time or intention of working a two-a-day split at 4:30AM and 6:30PM I needed to find ways to recover since I noticed my peers were dying. Here's the scenario:

6-7 exercises per workout
4-6 sets per exercise
6-9 reps per set

At 7 exercises @ five sets each that is a whopping 35 sets in one workout! Four workouts per week. . . talk about taxing!!

For competitive bodybuilders this is probably nothing new but this goes against the current dogma spouted to us consumers.

In summary. . .
So far I have averaged about 8 hrs sleep per night and up to 10 on weekends. I religiously drink a minimum of 1 gallon of water and eat 1.0 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. I have basically cut way back on cardio to 1-2 times per week at no more than 20 minutes. I use no Glutamine ( ) but consume a little more than 5 grams of Creatine per day. Along with Glucosamine and multi-vitamins I am doing well.

Best of all, no injuries and I feel GREAT!

Thought?? Comments?? Your own experiences?

P.S. I need to add that my career is not physically taxing and I have cut way back on late nights. . . .pretty boring but healthy!!
