Supplements with an Intense Routine - Thursday, October 02, 2008 7:38 PM ( #1 )
I have been training hard for the past few months like a body builder. I am not. I am looking for results like those of body builders though. I got this work out from a personal trainer at a gym I used to go too and its what Ive been using. Id love some feedback and maybe some new exercises that emphasize the same muscle groups I have been targeting. Also I have been using Time under Tension (TUT) for every exercise. Usually 3 seconds down and 2 seconds up. (except for the explosive lifts, Deadlift and Hangcleans).

Supplements. I have been using superpump250 on a regular basis. It really is my go to supplement. By now its probably more of a placebo affect anyway but it still gives me energy and gets me read for the gym. I have also been taking animal cuts the past 3 weeks to try and get that toned look and I have to say that its working extremely well. So well that I look a lot smaller than Id like to be. Thinking about taking M stack, another universal product. Ive heard a lot of good things. I really would like to put on some more muscle while maintaining the tone I have. If anyone has anything theyd like to share about M stack Id love to hear it as well.

Every day Consists of abs and interval sprinting for 20 minutes. I am recovering from a broken ankle so I do the sprints on an arc trainer.

Off Days- There are no off days. IT really isnt an option for me to not be in the gym. Days Im not doing one of the three routines above I am in the gym working secondary muscles. Forarms and Calves and also the abs and sprint intervals.

I would love feedback on the routine, Any new exercises, and of course anything about M stack or any other supps worth trying. I try to stay clear of creatine though.

Thanks

1) Get a mark rippetoe'ish routine
2)not taking off days is not an option, never the other way around

You work your forearms on maybe 80% of the exercises from monday, also major forearms workout from your wednesday deadlifts and rows, cals get workout from squat and deadlift as well... you do not need to workout those... it's called secondary muscles for a reason, they are used a support in the other lifts.. basically it implies that it's being worked. You shouldn't get all those supps too but that's just me... wait for brihead to come school you about peanut butter

BBN gave a great answer.  You really dont need to work all the secondary muscles, but if you decide to you should just do it on the 3 days you workout.  the routine your trainer gave you looks ok (which is funny because most trainers i know are retarded).  You really need to have a couple of rest days, especially since you are nursing a broken ankle.

First, you MUST take a rest day.  Next, forget about the supplements.  They are not going to get growth out of your body.

I highly suggest you look up H.I.T. (High Intensity Training).  Do not let yourself be biased by what you read about H.I.T. because I can tell you from personal experience that it works extremely well.  The major concept is that you workout at a high intensity and only do just enough to grow.  You can Google high intensity training and also look at http://www.drdarden.com/index.jsp for more information.  You won't be sorry.

And yes i realize i need rest days. sorry i didnt explain....see im an addict. I am addicted to lifting and even thought rest days are needed its extremley hard for my mind to accept that. I know its better for me but I really always need to be active. Im gona start doing yoga a few days and try and make those my off days. well see what happens

Well I can't blame you.. I'm the same. I'm telling you what you need to hear, what you're supposed to hear AND what others will let you hear... you must cherish rest days '' you grow outside the gym, not inside'' I know that, we all do but I'm the same, I don't take rest days either..

See bodybuilding isn't hard, you lift heavy, eat heavy and rest heavy. I do two of the followings... OR at least I do the heavy lifting part, I think I'm eating decently to grow but don't ask me to get rest days... Sometimes I get focused and go like ( f that lets just follow the routine and take rest when due) next thing you know I'm benching squatting and what not on my rest days..

So yea, I'm not blaming you for not wanting rest days, I'm the same.. although if you don't use them you're missing on alot of potential growth. Just the way it is.

Take the supplements if you feel they boost you.  Mental strength really helps you get to the gym and pump those weights without hate for it.  I can't wait to get SP250.  Will get it tomorrow.  Also you could take WHEY protein also?

Take some off days.  Its even good to take a week break every 8-12 weeks for some people.  Though i have yet to i might the week of one of these weeks.

Yea I take the whey protein within 15 minutes of the end of my training. and enjoy the superpump, its by far my favorite but it def messes with ur system i just dont care enough bc i get such good lifts with it.

And I took a week off once when I went on vacation and I didnt really come back stronger like some say but it gave my body time to recover and all the little aches and sore spots went away which was kind of nice although I really love em. didnt come back weaker either.

First day not in the gym in like 2 months ha. actually not too bad but ill def be in there tmw!
