Does anyone else have this problem- when i begin to take supplements frequently i.e. 3 times a day, after a few days I get something just short of diorrhea. Im not sure how to combat this- maybe take immodium or something (opposite of laxative). Unless anybody else has a solution?

You may be sensitive or allergic to something (s) in there.  I would mention to the DR, and bring them in for the dr to see.
as said above - it helps if you list what and how much.

It was a protein + carb supplement which had 3 grams of fibre every taking- does anyone know if this has an affect?

We really need to know brand etc. of the supplment.  3 grams of fiber ain't much.  Drink lots of water in any case.

Excess protein can cause that symptom.  (If indeed you are getting way more then you need).  A lot of times from shakes.

Read the ingredients.  The only suspect I came up with besides maybe drinking it too much is the aspartame--are you allergic by any chance?

But it is much more likely what Marc suggested.  Can you cut back on the number of shakes and use food?

Cheers!

There are Two ingredients that might give you trouble....

Soya Flour, Maltodextrin, Whey Powder, Fructose, Isolated Soy Protein, Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder, Whole Egg Powder, Flavoring Calcium Phosphate, Emulsifier (Lecithin), Artificial Swetener (Aspartame*), Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc Oxide, Vitamin B12, Chromium Picolinate.

I would never eat anything that had "Artificial Swetener (Aspartame)"  in addition to the other problems, it hinders your body's ability to estimate calorie intake.

Amount per serving (with 250ml of whole milk):
Energy
375 Kcal

Protein
21.7g

Carbohydrate
39.0g

Fat
15.0g

Fibre
2.9g
This is a meal replacement drink.  The mix of carbs to protein is ok and the protein sources are good.  Not everyone needs that much fat.

Keep in mind as Marc noted

quote:

Excess protein can cause that symptom

If you are getting too much overall or too much in one serving this would happen.

And as Linda noted:
quote:

You may be sensitive or allergic to something (s) in there

You may be intolerant of the whey, soy, corn (Maltodextrin), or eggs...or the "altered" ingredients???

When you discontinue the shakes do the symptoms continue?
Alternately, try for only 1 shake a day (20-30 grams protein max to test).

I'd stop taking it. . . If I can get 240 in under 2,200 cals a day, I'd hope you could get yours in in your diet(mine's not the best but it works for me, 10lbs lost, and my muscles dont feel a ton bigger, noticed a little in the mirror, but they feel so much tighter), IDK your situation but I'd say just ingest the protien naturaly.
