Supplement and workout help =/ - Tuesday, November 04, 2008 4:49 AM ( #1 )
Im a 17 yr old student, and iv lost a rediculous amount of muscle mass due to having an operation not too long ago. I dont want to rush straight back into the gym full on blasting my body to build the muscle up, as i dont want a repeat injury

Could you recommend a supplement, or training regime that would suit a recovering body.

many thanks

haha depends.  please say what kind of operation you had.  that would help out replys a lot.  i had shoulder surgery repairing my rotator cuff and other weird named things in my shoulder almost two years ago.  i went through the routine therapy for a while and when i got my full range of motion back, which took like 6 months or so.  and i got addicted to percasets which messed up my liver, but thats a different story LOLOL. anyways when i got my shoulder movements back i started doing arnold shoulder presses and that has helped out a lot.  my shoulder is pretty much good as new now, except where my acromino clacicular joint is torn.  thats not repairable.

i had an inguinal hernia operation a few weeks ago, and was told i could return to weight training after 6 weeks. The lack of working out is killing me it sucks, i just wanted to know if there were any lightweight (baby) exercises i could get away with, that wouldnt kill me in the process. Also, when i get back to full weight training, what exercises can you recommend for rapid muscle growth? i know im not exactly the largest 17 year old in the world, but with what i lack in size i make up for in power =)

I would just listen to the docs if i were you and wait the 6 weeks. When you get back in just do a 3 day split with a day off after. Mine is: Chest/Tris, Bis/Back, and Shoulders/Traps/Legs. As far as supplements go...wait a month or so to get back onto to anything, i see way too many people getting on supplements right when they start or right when they come back from an injury and i think that that probably isn't too good for your muscles. But drink whey protein for sure. And whenever you want to get on supplements try a NO Xplode/Cell Mass combo with 2-3 scoops of whey protein..that works for me for lean muscle mass

I would do your normal routine with light weight. Take it easy until you feel that you have recovered. Eat a proper diet.
