Supersets. Is it better? - Thursday, June 19, 2008 12:03 PM
Recently been introducted to supersets. However, I'm still confussed about them. Anyone want to elbaorate?
Also, someone told me that they were more effective on getting quick results. I've been doing split sets (1-2 diffrent muscle groups a day and days of rest) ever since I started working out.
What do you think is better?
Which do you do?

I've been doing supersets for months now. It really just makes the workout go faster and I can still lift pretty heavy.

Ive been doing them off and on for awhile now.

with my fullbody I can say I get exhausted a lot faster with supersets. But it adds a whole new level of intensity to your lifts imo.

but like ripped said, the workouts tend to go a little faster.

I love them, they help me fit extra lifts in a workout but keep the duration right around an hour. They are also good if you don't do cardio as they keep your heart rate elevated in between sets.

As for the quick results question. I don't think that they provide a significant advantage in increased muscle growth.

I don't do them on every single lift. I feel like there are some lifts that do better when I rest properly beforehand. Just keep in mind when you put them in your routine that you don't have to use them on every lift.

Usually when I get to the top of my deadlift I'll do a reverse-grip curl.
