I used to live in Kenya and zimbabwe, and i used to always have this dish... It's really good, especially when your trying to chomp down chicken and you need a good healthy side dish...

Seems like a good way to get a lot of those awesome spinach/leafy greens, especially if you don't like them solo.

That is not quite the way the Kenyan's make it, but it is yummy.  Working with Kenyan's on a farm, we use to grow and harvest it all fresh...now THAT is the way to wake it!

Of course they always have Ugali with it!

Thats the stuff...did you ever shuck the corn, grind it and boil it in the big pot stirring it with that big spoon to make it!

Yummm.  Great combination!

I havnt had it for sooo long, not the real stuff at least since 1998, when i came to America. Do they sell it here in the states? Or does it have to be hand made? The closest thing to it here is polenta.

Polenta!  EEwwww.
Sorry, it never works for me.

Corn bread made from fresh ground corn can be kinda close..but grind the corn and make it fresh...

I never made it myself, my Kenyan friends always did it while I cooked other foods!

<snip>

I love polenta!  But maybe you don't love it because it hasn't been made right.  It's a pain to make--slow cooking with stirring for like an eternity.  Then either baked or pan-fried and serve with whatever  . . . . steak strips and sauteed onions . . . yum . . .

You might be right G.

It is always so...flavourless and ...something about the texture!

Even when the accompanying food is really exquisite...it never has had that special something that makes you *sigh*  I had an Italian partner who made it and everyone raved about it, it was her specialty.  It never worked for me...maybe that is why she left me Smile

I have had some fine chefs prepare it...I have many friends who are some of the finest chefs in California and in Stowe!

Now the trouble is I have a mild corn allergy...so I save myself for fresh Ugali! Smile

Ok, now I believe you don't like polenta!  Oh well, what can you do?

Your ex's loss, btw.

The crazy thing was we were entered in a Natural BB competition in doubles. We were only a few weeks out and really starting to look great.  Just about to get our posing routine together.

She was a bombshell anyway...people often just stared at her.Smile

I was happy with the split, but not the timing!
Everyone said I would miss the polenta! Smile
