All,

So over the last 6 months I've managed to lose 35 pounds total weight while adding approx 15 pounds to my lean body mass. All this was done with out protein supplementation (other than high protein foods) or creatine. So as I take a break and contemplate the insanity that is the Critical Bench program , I can't help but wonder what my results would have been like it I had added Protein powder and Creatine to my supplements.

So I guess what I'm looking for here is, which ones should I look at? And where might I find the best prices?

I would prefer to avoid something chocolate flavored (but I've heard that anything strawberry is just hideous). Any recommendations welcomed, plus advice on what to mix it with.

Thanks.

Paul

I've only tried one protein so far (100% whey protein from GNC) and it was nasty when I first tried it. But since I just bought 6 lbs of the stuff, I had to get used to it. Now it isn't so bad. So maybe that is the case with most protein - it's an acquired taste?

I just bought two jugs of this protein Metabolic Whey from Supps 101 and Kris tells me is is the best tasting stuff he has tried (and I suspect he has tried a lot!). Plus you get 5% off for being a premier member at DB.

I sometimes mix mine with milk, but usually it is just water in my PWO shake (with and apple or banana). But my new favorite breakfast is oatmeal w/ a scoop of protein and some fruit mixed in (berries, banana). Yum. Like I said, the taste must have grown on me.

I have been using choc, but I ordered a vanilla. I'm not allowed to open the new protein until I finish up this old jug, because my husband refuses to have three 5 lbs jugs of protein taking up space in our kitchen.

No advice on the creatine. Congrats on the good losses and gains so far! KUTGW!

i've personally found two MRP's to be the best tasting while having very good ingrediants:

MRM's MRP (I found the vanilla to be soo good it almost tasted like an actual shake...very good)
IsoPure's Zero Carb Protein (I mention the Zero Carb one...becuase the regular one didn't for some reason, taste as good.)

As Much as I'd love to shop at Sups 101 (I like to help support those I know), with the lack of Isopure and the fact that it's in CA (I'm in CA so I pay tax), I found that the two best priced, fastest shipping, and most of what I wanted to be these (In this order):

1) Advantage Supplements - This is the site I order from on a regular basis...they have damn low prices, and carry almost everything I need...
2) DPS Nutrition - This also an excellent site with low prices and fast fast shipping. They actually shipped out my orders faster than Advantage...

I Highly recommend either one for good prices.

Wow...they ahve V12 on sale for $29.99 right now...I may have to pick up a few of those...

Way to go Paul!

My recommendation is pretty much Cytosport Muscle Milk at the moment. They make an excellent post-workout drink. Something like 16 flavors are available.

And I have to recommend Supplements101.com for a few reasons

a) Pays the bills for this forum
b) Competitive prices
c) Good return policies and safe shipping methods

As far as flavors go.. anything but Strawberry.

You know, I honestly didn't factor that in...Helping support this Site is important to me...hell it's the only site I post on a daily basis...and it's one I read almost as much as the news I read...

I guess all in all...if I could just get that darn Isopure through them..I woudn't have any problems paying the tax....

I will say that I received my order the quickest through Sups 101.....then again..I'm probably within 100 miles of tehyr'e shipping facility...so that helps..

I did ask Kris about the Isopure thing. He said if he could get a commitment that it would be ordered here.. he would consider doing it.

Otherwise, it's just another product in the warehouse that may or may not sell.

Sounds like if Sups101 had Isopure, you'd be a very happy camper.

I'll ping him again and say Pappy seems pretty serious about ordering that product from you. Any way you can carry it? He does respond to such requests on occasion.

I'd order it if he carried it. From what I'm hearing Isopure is the most often suggested brand.

Hmmm... Must have missed this one somehow. Doesn't matter too much, as I wouldn't have been much help. The only proteins I've had so far are: GNC's whey (my first jug) which is overpriced and doesn't mix as well as others; ON's 100% Whey which mixes well and tastes pretty good -- but it doesn't rock my world or anything; a casein/milk isolate custom blend from BlackStar labs which tasted a lot like chalk the first time I ordered it -- the last batch was better though (and they have a new green apple flavor which is intriguing); and my current batch which is some stuff from Costco that my folks picked up when they visited earlier this year.

I'm not allowed to open the new protein until I finish up this old jug, because my husband refuses to have three 5 lbs jugs of protein taking up space in our kitchen.

Too bad, because my favorite flavor right now is a 50/50 mix of chocolate and vanillla... damn it's good.

Let us know how you like the MRM Metabolic Whey. I might give it a go when I finish my current jugs.

Oh yeah... if you're looking for creatine, Kris has a really good price on San's V12 Turbo. You might want to give it a shot.

I think their V12 did well by me when I was taking it regularly (not sure why I stopped...)...
