in some cases it might be able to.. im not totally sure but you could mess up your bone structure and have that mess up you growing. since youre 15 your bones arent done growing and if you mess them up they could be damaged, you know?

yeah but it doesnt mean that your growth wasnt stunted...because you maybe could have been a couple inches taller if you had not started lifting that early

if you started after puberty you should be fine, there wont be damage unless you were accually hurt.

However if you start for what ever reason before puberty like a certin ****y 12 yearold on this fourm, the risk of stunting your growth increases, and there most likely will be damage done and you will not be your full height

Actually, weight lifting won't stunt your growth at all. Thats like saying basketball will make you taller. There's absolutely no logistical, scientifically, biological, spirtual reason for lifting to stunt growth. Its just a myth like weight lifting keeps you from being limber. No, not stretching keeps you from being limber. So yea, theres no truth to it.

I know a guy who is 8-9 inches taller than there dad and 12-13 inches taller than there mum.

Quite hysterical actually...and strange...lol

Guess he got some recessive gene from years ago in his family

Weightlifting wont stunt growth unless you injure yourself badly from doing it.
95% of growth is from DNA makeup, not exercise and nutrition, though that might help you with a 1/4" here and there.

Keep on lifting, just make sure to not injure yourself

strange paradox, the human "what if" which can only truly be proved by going back in time and doing things differently, true the guy might have got to 6'3-6'4...but i doubt it...DNA makes most of our growth, and in any case children play around loads, when you run you put your bodyweight down onto your legs many times, leg bones and muscle are meant to deal with them beatings, so weightlifting with legs will do jack ****, and arms etc...well strength is determined by muscle, and in general people who start weightlifting unless gifted can only lift there bodyweight in most exercises excluding legs, so they cant damage themself, and by the time they can lift more, there muscles are bigger and can enforce the bone more, bone is softer the younger the person, but after age 15 you pretty much have adult bones in most respects, others might be late growing and have to wait til later ages.

Ive grown 2 inches since i started lifting, and at a strange age of 18.

well my cousin started lifting at an early age, like at 8 or 10, and before that he had passed a test at the hospital to know how tall he would be, and these tests are extremely precise. the error is like +-1 inch. the test had predicted 6'7" +- 1 inch, and now he is only 6'4", so obviously growth was altered...

Marco, them tests arent actually as accurate as you might think.

they take your age and how much your wrist bones have fused because your wrists are the last ones to fuse from what i know, and they guesstimate, it is not accurate to +- inch because when i was a child i was told id be well over 6 feet tall, my sister was meant to be 5'10-5'11 too apparently and she is now only 5'6" and she hasnt had any injuries or workouts.

I'm 6'1", not exactly well over 6 feet tall.
Especially considering my family background

Anyway to the original poster, you might be 6feet tall-but dont think thats great, average males are 5'10" and thanks to evolution and better nutrition humans are getting taller, average height of males has increased by 5-6 inches the past 50 years

when youre 60 years odd old youre gonna have guys at 6'4" AVERAGE.

Pretty ****ing scary idea, the average in 10-20 years will be 6-6'1" and thats average.

Humans are definitely getting taller, my dad used to get comments like "hows the weather up there?" when he was a teen of the 60's and hes only 6'2", nowadays 6'2" is big but its not worthy of a weather comment, i feel sorry for my 6'7" uncle as he lived in them times too, nickname was lampost and beampole.

Half the guys in my college are about 6'2"

Oh and i have made a mistake

I told everyone theres a guy at college 6'5" at 300lbs odd, i got it wrong

I took into account our doors are 6'6", the frames are actually 6'8-6'9", and he has to duck a bit, and we have a guy whos skinny but 6'6 1/2" and hes a good 2 inches smaller than this guy, so this guy is actually 6'8", i thought he looked a bit taller than 6'5" but thats what everyone said he was

Even funnier is when a 6'8" 300lbs guy speaks with a camp voice

HAHAHAHA, brilliant.

Heavy weightlifting at ages 8-10 will stunt your growth, 15 onwards id say will help it

the 6'6 1/2" guy i decided to talk to him about height as im obsessed with it, his MUM is 6'2"! his dad is 6'9"! and his uncle is 6'11"!

Hes actually one of the runts at nearly 6'7"
**** crazy dude

And he has other 7fters in his not major immediate family.

The other big guy i dont know about his parents...

growth stopping at 14 1/2 is normal, but you might be in for a nice treat with another growth spurt

what's your parents heights?

body goes through in general 3-4 main growth spurts which entitle around 6-10 inches of growth each one, first one is aged 8 onwards, 12 onwards, 14-15 onwards (4th can be older depending)[very rare, most growth after aged 15 is statistically speaking only a few inches at most, but it has been known for people to sprout ****loads of inches in there early twenties, its just rare]) AVERAGE, you get little height boosts within these time frames, after some main growth spurts you grow an inch here or there.

you know when youre gonna go through a growth spurt when you start putting on weight, sometimes this is difficult for people to do as theyre weight changes majorly if youre BBing, but you will notice higher BF% and a lot more flab around the midriff before a major growth, guys majority speaking go from short and fat, then thin out and tall, gain weight again, grow more to thin, gain more weight, etc etc

Just hope to god that pattern ends at growth than weight gain LOL
