Still struggling with that fat. - Sunday, July 06, 2008 5:40 PM
The only thing that I had much success with was eating pasta and just lowering the pasta intake, back when I was 250Lbs, I lost 50lbs doing this, but that was probably due to being absurdly overweight to begin with.
I'm currently still ~193Lbs-195Lbs and I have tried just about everything under the sun and nothing seems to make me lose fat. I can grab a fist full of fat and there is plenty to lose, I have even been on what seems to be called a "keto" diet, of eating nothing but eggs, egg whites, cheese, meat, olive oil, and a bowl of oatmeal every so often, for the last few months.

There are two things left to try, one is a 3000 calorie 75%carb/15%Protein/10% fat diet for a week and then see what happens. The other is to take a buzz saw and cut the fat off, literally, which isn't something I plan on doing.

Can anyone help me, or have any kind of suggestions that could assist me in losing this lard?

have you ever tried calculating your daily caloric intake?

find out how many calories you need in a day, subtract 250-500 calories from it, make a meal plan that consists of that many calories, and follow it

exactly um can you explain your 3000 calorie a day diet idea?i highly doubt you would lose weight at 3000 calories a day..

i see. yeah, i think he's attempting a keto diet, but he's got WAYYYY too many carbs, not near enough protein, and not enough fats.

RE: Still struggling with that fat. - Sunday, July 06, 2008 10:25 PM
No no no, I *WAS* on basically a pure protein and fat diet before I jumped on high carb yesterday, Sunday. I was trying to eat around 2300-2500 calories on the high protein diet but nothing was happening with my weight. While I can flex my muscle more and they look bigger, I have not noticed any reduction in the fat, I need to lose the extra pounds and gainning weight, even if it is muscle, is not something I want or need right now, nor do I want to lose the muscle that I already have.

~200Lbs X 15 = 3000 calories, I figure that I would just jump on a high calorie diet for a week, just in case I was starving myself and see what happens next Sunday. If I gain weight, I'll chop to 2600 and stick with the high carb, I guess you can call it grabing at straws, because that how I feel right now.

I went through the other equations and that jazz some time ago and put me right around the quick start guide, ~2825 for a maint, if I'm reading this piece of paper right, -500 still landed me in at ~2300-2400Cal, which hasen't done squat for me in the last few months.

Suggestions, anyone?

Diet being daily consumption, not calorie restriction...

there are alot more ACCURATE equations. i would look into those.

if you're eating 500 calories less than your maintenance, then there is something wrong with your diet and/or you're not doing cardio.  you need to do cardio to drop some weight.

as for your diet, try to clean it up some.  i don't really know what your diet is, but i'd bet money on it that there are a few things in there that shouldn't be

Most of what I eat is this: Hoffman cheese, ham/beef/turkey/etc, Jumbo chicken eggs, eggwhites, rare double yoked eggs, pita bread, skinless frozen chicken(rare), tuna, salmon, tuna/salmon patties(bread crumbed and sizzled in olive oil, oatmeal(sick of), milk, watermelon(very sparingly), eggs scrabled in oilve oil, etc. I'm sure there are some items I'm forgetting but that is about it.

Diet doesn't mean anything without cardio..? Morning without food or morning with food and how much?

I have gone through one of the more accurate equations, ~2825, see above.

If what you tell me is true then I think I need to go bury my head under my pillows and weep over all that time and expensive food that I wasted.

What you are eating looks fine, so the problem obviously has to be how much of it you are eating. Not all metabolisms are created equal. I was getting an average of 1600 calories a day when I was serious about my cut and it took me from 20% BF at like 208lbs. to 8% BF at 163lbs. currently. Unforunately, some of us have slow slow metabolisms and we can't eat like the ectos or mesos and expect to lose weight. I'd suggest dropping down to 2k calories with about 50%protein/30%fat/20% carbs and see how that goes. Also, try to get all your carbs in the morning, none at night. It's not going to be fun but I think you'll see results. Let me know how it goes. Also, don't neglect the cardio. Do it in the morning on an empty stomach if you can. If you have to do it later in the day do it after lifting, not before.

But won't going below BMR start consuming muscle and keeping fat? Sometimes, I wish I could RMA the human body.
I'll drop it down to 2000Cal for a while and see what happens, if nothing, I'll see about taking it lower.

I don't think a while would be enough..
You ca't see anything during one week, better try for at least month..
It is hadly possible to see eny effects after changing diet for a week..

you can lose weight on a keto diet, yes.  it's very possible

I did. Before I left for the beach, I was at 121lbs. Prolly gained 1 or 2 lbs from not workout out/not eating right, but, I've done the low-carb thing before and lost 60lbs from it.

Basically, just don't eat anything white. No potatoes, pasta, bread, rice, or sugar. Get all of your carbs from vegetables. Not only will they provide the energy you need, but also more fiber and nutrients. Paired up with a good workout the pounds will slide off.
